Hello people,
Please I need some advice.
We live in PH, and have 4 kids. The oldest is 10 while the youngest is 6. I give my wife 700k every month, and this includes general upkeep and maintenace and fuelling of our car (Lexus 330). I don't drive the car (I dey leg, while she uses it to run around, which includes school runs and her business).

I no dey chuk eye for her business. Bu I am getting frustrated as she still makes me believe that the money is not enough. I pay electricity bill (band A) and house rent (3m pa) yet every now and then she puts bills on my head. It is driving me crazy.

When I tell her to list out her expenses so I plan with her, she picks offence. I am really tired of the whole thing and don't know how else to approach the issue without causing too much problem. I know some men whose salaries are 250k-300k in PH, yet they are surviving.

You must be a big boy for you to be giving your wife N700000 per month and paying N3million p.a for rent. If I were you I would cut down the monthly amount given to wifey from N700,000 to N200,000. I would save the rest for rainy days. I would be in charge of general maintenance of my home and curtail excessive spendings. I would work towards buying a land and building a bungalow instead of spending 3m on rent.

Bros let me tell you something with my years of experience in marriage. As you see women so, nothing you go do wey go satisfy them, if u jab that money to 1m, she go still complain, oga you need to stand your grand, no go dey do like mumu husband or no go dey form loyal ,good and responsible husband, no gain o, you go just enslave yourself for you family and na still that woman go reap all u planted. Imagine you own a car and you are working with your foot because madam dey drive the car, oga wise up na, why you dey do like say them don put you inside bottle, just imagine you cant afford that money you gave to her due to unfortunately incident, that will be the end of your marriage, that woman is over spending and she doesn't give a fu..k cos she knows the money will still keep coming, you think say if your enemy pai now, that woman and ur kids no go survive.. so why kill yourself.. reduces everything that need to be reduce and don't give a damn about her nag, in due time, she will adjust and see it as norm. Start planning for your future Incase any bad thing happened God forbid, by now you should have your own house and lots of investment to your name ,My ex wife does the same thing when we were married, now she be single mother, the work to earn wey she no won do before, she dey do am now and take care of the kids.let j
Her take some responsibility and also let her work so she knows how hard and difficult it is to make money. Oga, be wise and don't be unwise

I am sure your wife is not collecting 50k per month.700k na dangote daughter? Mind you in a rented apartment and just a car. Oga na lie.
The only thing that baffled me in his writeup is that he doesn't drive but his wife that does not work drives.

Unless the op is into Yahoo Yahoo and intentionally avoiding to drive to avoid Police and EFCC wahala, I see no reason his wife who isn't working will be driving while he treks to work. Another possibility is if the op works in the rig, in that case he may not need to drive because most times he is onshore and whenever he is on 2 weeks off, he may prefer to spend it indoors with his kids

If these are not the scenarios, then there is possibility the op is playing with our minds lol

May God help him whichever way

700 what?
That's way too much.

My advice, pretend you lost your job or your business just collapsed and see if she won't survive on 100k.

We've read and have heard stories whereby the woman used the money the husband gives her for upkeeps of the family to buy lands and build on them without his knowledge and letting him almost d1e trying to provide for his family.

Na una follow dey spoil these bleeding gender aswear.

Maybe she's nursing the plan of divorce.... reason why she is trying to get all she can from you while the marriage lasts.

Hope you have built or building your house?

Hope you are saving and investing too?

Even if you give a high maintenance woman N2m a month, she will still complain.

A day will come when you can no more afford to give her this much and she will despise you.

Provide a good life for your family if you can but don't be under pressure to do so.

Don't be a SIMP, if you are not happy with something, discuss it and set things right. If she wan vex make she vex!

The problem most people in cities have with building their own house is getting land in developed city areas. Most times you can only find empty lands in less developed outskirts of the city which may not be close to your work or business and may expose you to armed robbery, etc.

That you're still paying for rent annually, pay the electricity bill , pay school fees and you are giving your wife 700k monthly upkeep is very much okay
.
You and your household will have to sit down and plan together.
If your wife is a reasonable woman, she will be able to provide the household good food and drinks for the whole month and also make some savings.
Tomorrow is good to plan for.
Tomorrow is not certain
Tomorrow is pregnant
Tomorrow is cloudy
Take time to call your wife now and talk about how to make adjustments.
Things are expensive in the market but 700k is much more than enough to get a decent living for a family of 6

You could buy a land in the less developed outskirt, erect buildings in the land, fence it and then rent it out inorder to have something to fall back on when you are not able to sustain the N3m p.a rent

I hope you're planning to move into your personal house soon. You consume 700k monthly on food and few other things? For a family of six? I hope your income will be able to sustain for a long time the standard of living you and not your has set for your family?

God see you through.

700k a month is not too much. I live alone and last month I spent 300k a month. And that’s just 1 person. So for a family of 6 I think 700k is reasonable or even too small.

See this olodo. Paying N3m rent means your are not living very comfortably, hence cannot afford a N700k per month wife.

No amount of money you give to woman this period is enough due to cost of things. But the issues is you, you should be reducing some expenses. Management is the key this period, discuss with her that you can't afford such amount this period that you are reducing the money and also drop some expenses like putting on gen every time, go for water dispenser or satchet water, reduce some cost of living, then be giving her money weekly, mentioned your budget don't pass 500,000 a month then save 200,000, divide the 500,000 into 4 weeks then been sending to her weekly. If she is not comfortable with it then let her add the rest, because if your sources of income is gone, you might likely suffer, if you don't plan it well now. As a father or mother you will decide what your children will eat, if you set a standard that you can not afford with time when you don't have your family will look some where to get it, that will make you a failure as father before your children. Mother knows how to control emotions of children, forgetting all the good things you have been doing since. So seat your wife down and discuss with her, she will adjust, because if you give her 1million naira, it would not still be a enough.
