That's way too much.

My advice, pretend you lost your job or your business just collapsed and see if she won't survive on 100k.

We've read and have heard stories whereby the woman used the money the husband gives her for upkeeps of the family to buy lands and build on them without his knowledge and letting him almost d1e trying to provide for his family.

Na una follow dey spoil these bleeding gender aswear.

Modified.
Maybe she's nursing the plan of divorce.... reason why she is trying to get all she can from you while the marriage lasts.
No dey surprise say she fit even don buy the house wey u dey pay the 3m rent grin
If you no wise up and man up, I foresee premium tears loading
honestly speaking the woman is up to something..
maybe shes saving for something or building house hence the incessant billing...

kaiii a whole 700k is way too much for upkeep

Hello people,
Please I need some advice.
We live in PH, and have 4 kids. The oldest is 10 while the youngest is 6. I give my wife 700k every month, and this includes general upkeep and maintenace and fuelling of our car (Lexus 330). I don't drive the car (I dey leg, while she uses it to run around, which includes school runs and her business).

I no dey chuk eye for her business. Bu I am getting frustrated as she still makes me believe that the money is not enough. I pay electricity bill (band A) and house rent (3m pa) yet every now and then she puts bills on my head. It is driving me crazy.

When I tell her to list out her expenses so I plan with her, she picks offence. I am really tired of the whole thing and don't know how else to approach the issue without causing too much problem. I know some men whose salaries are 250k-300k in PH, yet they are surviving.
Oga, teach your wife accountability. Don't let her blackmail you fake tears

You just won the olympics for idiots using the phrase 'extremely comfortable living' for someone that can only afford to pay N3m rent. Are there no luxury houses for N10m-N15m. Why are you even still a tenant? grin

first question - bro it’s port harcourt not Lagos. Even in lekki a 15 million Naira apartment is over the top talk less of port harcourt

Second question ? It’s poverty mentality that makes you think being a tenant is a bad thing. Once you have lived abroad and your mind has opened you will see the benefits of renting which are

1- you are not responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building

2- anytime you get bored of the area you can rent somewhere else after a year

3 - you have more liquid cash for high profit investments because rent is cheap. You have like 400 million Naira sitting in your account that you would have used to build a house. With that much liquid cash you can do all kinds of business

4- if the house burns down it’s not your property

Re: Is 700k Per Month Too Small? by Tealcrestmedia(m): 5:11pm On Jun 18
In PH that life is highly adaptable is where you're getting financially strained like this. Smh if you're living in GRA, odili road, NAF estate, stadium road, etc there's always an adjoining community where you can find very affordable amenities and even good schools. If you must live like this, consider what might happen if life happens to you.

This your scenario is no different from the oil and gas workers, around 2008 ish or so, living so large until when the oil crash happened and a lot of them were laid off. They couldn't sustain their 2million naira duplexes as at then. Be wise chief.

I became suspicious and the op point needs to be xtrayed.

When you said that you've a car but yet it belong to your family but you the owner leg your ways around with your Footwagen or Foot404, when you said you're still paying rent and yet after you dropped 700k for your wife you're still paying some miscellaneous to run the family.

@OP, I put the blame on you for the fact that either you or your wife lack management

Secondly, I guess you're using money to tie down your wife may be perhaps she ought to have left you for long

Thirdly, despite the poor configuration of Nigeria economy, even if your wife is selfish that 700k suppose to remain change of 300k.

Fourthly, did your family consume a bag of rice or beans or 50kg of semo or wheat on monthly basis?

Did you slaughter chicken or turkey on daily basis

If truly your monthly figure is correct as 700k, you're the reason why your wife is exploiting you.

Apart from pepper and some other short span foods or grain I don't expect your wife to be buying seasoning, salt, cooking oil, on weekly even monthly basis

Then what's she buying with 700k I guess she's not contented type or maybe perhaps she knows the secret to your source of wealth or there's something you're hiding

My brother na way out i dey find.

First of All, reduce your expenses. 250k a month on house rent is too much. Look for a cheaper place. You may need to leave band A area to a cheaper area. The amount you are giving your wife monthly is not much, but it's best to monitor it by giving her in piecemeal daily and not monthly, you may see that she spends more than that amount. I do spend more than that. Live simple. Not easy, but possible.
Lots of things to consider. Band A reduces fuel consumption.
Do you mean you spend more than 700k per month?
Re: Is 700k Per Month Too Small? by nedekid: 5:27pm On Jun 18
700k is more that enough to take care of that family especially with little kids, Abi watin them one chop?. How ajebuta can they be? The lady is either saving the money, building house, sponsoring family or has a small boy somewhere sucking her dry.
Op install proper tracker in that car. Most folks don't know their tracker has microphones installed in which you can activate remotely and listen to all conversation made in or from the vehicle.

4 kids in pH.. 700k monthly is not too small..give her ast u fill reasonable and tell her you av done your bit

Once you have sorted
Accommodation
School fees
Feeding(try buying those core food items yourself...bag of rice half bag of garri..quarter bag of beans 20 tubers of yam, 3 to 5 carton of spag, 3 to 4 carton of noodles ,milk...milo...sugar...Nutella, 20 litres of palm oil...20 litres of groundnut oil 3 crates of egg...tell her how much she needs for meat, fish, pomo, seafood that will last for the month stock up the freezer..and give her 50k to 100k for veggies another thing let her tell you..for her clothes..shoes.. hair look for something reasonable to give her based on your pocket and remember children's school material..you will save cost most of the things u will buy can't finish everyone you can then begin to replace as necessary...

In other words, I should be doing the shopping myself? Hmn, you wan shake table o. Na her ministry be that. Yes, for bulk purchase i can do (I do so once in a while like bag of rice), but I no know some things wey i go buy and she go say dem no good.

All I can say is that some women are the cause of their own woes and troubles. Any woman who can't manage her family's resources and help her husband (the man she claims to love) has failed as a wife and mother. I sympathize with you sir

2 anytime you get bored of the area you can rent somewhere else after a year. Moves his family from one place to the other and disrupts his kids education by saying he is bored but the truth is he is running from high rent or rent debts.

3 you have more liquid cash for high profit investments because rent is cheap. You have like 400 million Naira sitting in your account that you would have used to build a house.
