You could buy a land in the less developed outskirt, erect buildings in the land, fence it and then rent it out inorder to have something to fall back on when you are not able to sustain the N3m p.a rent
Perfect plan

Forums like Nairaland may serve as a good feedback measure to filter varying opinions and suggestions and as an adult you can pick the best that suits your current situation.

N700k in a year is N8.4m per annum. i.e N700k x 12 Months. Majority of the hardworking Civil servants, Bankers, IT professionals, Engineers, Doctors , Lawyers and even Soldiers don't earn such an amount after a year.

And you have magnanimously chosen to use it for upkeep of a young family where your first child is just 10yrs.

The future is even more expensive as quality University & Secondary schools are super expensive.

1, The amount is too much for a family of 4 (Four) haba ! Irrespective of the economic indicies it's a big deal. Why not open a dedicated trust and targeted savings/ investment plan for each of the 4 kids for educational or future purpose.

2, Pretend that you lost your job after applying for leave in your office and you don't go out for 20 days to see your spouse reaction and behaviour.

3, As a Man and head of the family, you need to be assertive and take charge. Reduce the expenses ASAP for the future of your children. Even God doesn't support wasteful spending.

Goodluck and be wise ! Women are attracted to assertive men with direction.
Thanks. No 1 is handled already.

You spend 700k monthly but still living in a rented apartment. Now I see why your wife feels comfortable defrauding you. I have no sympathy for you and your kind.

1- you are not responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building. Cannot afford to maintain a house so rather rents

2 anytime you get bored of the area you can rent somewhere else after a year. Moves his family from one place to the other and disrupts his kids education by saying he is bored but the truth is he is running from high rent or rent debts.

3 you have more liquid cash for high profit investments because rent is cheap. You have like 400 million Naira sitting in your account that you would have used to build a house. With that much liquid cash you can do all kinds of business. He chipped in N400m to look good only to himself. A figure he can only view in his debt-ridden dreams.

4 if the house burns down it’s not your property. He cannot afford to insure a house hence he runs from pillar to post claiming he does not want his house to get burnt grin grin grin grin grin lol

Second question ? It’s poverty mentality that makes you think being a tenant is a bad thing. Once you have lived abroad and your mind has opened you will see the benefits of renting which are

Finally the imbec!le thinks everyone on this forum lives in Nigeria grin
you obviously haven’t lived abroad because if you have you would realize that the super rich over there prefer to rent than to own and prefer to lease cars than to own it. I was married to a white girl whose dad was always leasing cars and with my stupid African poverty mentality mindset I said why not just buy the car ? You are wasting money leasing these cars. That’s when the man sat me down and explained the virtues of leasing as opposed to owning. And my mind has expanded because of that conversation

I am sure una never build house anywhere come dey spend money like this, make you no pray you loose your Job sorry will be your name. [Kquote author=ruffhandu post=130527858]Hello people,
Please I need some advice.
We live in PH, and have 4 kids. The oldest is 10 while the youngest is 6. I give my wife 700k every month, and this includes general upkeep and maintenace and fuelling of our car (Lexus 330). I don't drive the car (I dey leg, while she uses it to run around, which includes school runs and her business).

I no dey chuk eye for her business. Bu I am getting frustrated as she still makes me believe that the money is not enough. I pay electricity bill (band A) and house rent (3m pa) yet every now and then she puts bills on my head. It is driving me crazy.

When I tell her to list out her expenses so I plan with her, she picks offence. I am really tired of the whole thing and don't know how else to approach the issue without causing too much problem. I know some men whose salaries are 250k-300k in PH, yet they are surviving.[/quote]

700k is enough.

She is either spending it on helping her struggling relatives or her business is not profitable and eating the monthly upkeep.

Does it include clothing of the kids and herself; if it does, then that could be the problem.

Yes, the last time I offered to reimburse her for the kids' clothes she bluntly refused.

For context I am female and I understand how it can be trying to give the children the best especially with food to make them healthy. Health is wealth. Children are always prioritized but some of your children are old enough to begin to understand some things.

If it's drinking bottled water that will make them not fall sick then you guys have no choice but to continue. Now I am assuming water supply in your axis is not clean enough to be boiled for drinking because even the costs of bottled water alone for 4 kids in a month is a whole lot of money. Some snacks can be cut off once once, the fresh juices are still okay it's healthy though expensive.

You guys just have to find a way around the costs, you sound strained already.

Talk to her.

Is this why the wife is picking offence? If I were the guy, I will withdraw that money. Let us see if heaven will fall.

You don't have a wife. What you have is someone using you to cash out. 700k is more than what some men give their wives for a whole year and yet you do that in just a month. Something isn't right.

Your wife may be building somewhere or saving up money to move without you soon. I don't blame her. You are comfortable that's why you can be so wasteful.

Going forward, do not give her anything monthly, rather, let her write down everything she thinks the expense of the month will be. Let her list them down together with thier prices before you give her any money.
Make a visual confirmation of any purchase once it is done.

You need to put your wife on a leash else she may be your ruin. That you can afford things easily now doesn't mean that will always be the case and then you will see the true color of this woman.
I saw he's living in a rented apartment for 3m annually, yet gives the wife 700k for feeding monthly. Something is not just okay.
