Guess what. In good economies like UK and USA, we still have criminals and thieves. They have the same mentality as you. A thief will justify himself no matter the economy.

In the same vein, there are many Nigerians facing the same or worse economic problems and they do not resort to stealing. They would rather work harder to eat than steal. There is no excuse for criminality.
