Still don't think watching content on data is cheap or efficient in the Nigerian sense..

There is also the problem of epileptic data services with frequent outages and disruptions

Might be best to do the best packages of gold tv

I did the MTN 1TB annual sub. My wife started running it down, I sharply calculated and limited the data to 4GB per day.

If she watch reach 4GB, the network begin frustrate her until she turn off the tv go rest.

It lasted for 9-10 months sha.

Lol about 4 years ago during long holidays my kids(two kids) used 500GB of data on Netflix kids and YouTube kids for 30 days ... Spectranet sent me the report via email and my personal person for the office confirmed it and since then, they restricted my unlimited to just 100 GB and after few years I stopped subscribing ...and all I do now is sub for 2500 and watch my football and let's the kids have the remaining data, except their mom wanna watch latest on Netflix then I sub higher and keep it at arms length...data sub in Nigeria is a scam

No need to screen or cast. That's old school!. All he need is a Smart box not Smart TV! Smart box consumes data at the same rate as the phone.

The Ops doesn't seem to know the difference between smart box and smart TV. Attached shows pictures of smart boxes. Been using mind for 8yrs now.

With smart box, you can even connect it to the old cathode ray tube TV.

Basically, smart box turns any TV to smart TV. Don't buy the "high end smart TVs". Just buy ordinary TV and a smart box Shikena.

The OPS doesn't follow simple instructions.

I also have smart TV at home, but I ignore the smartness in the TV, but instead use a smart box and use the TV as just ordinary TV.

Hey, can you a give the spec of a very good smartbox that is up to date
Re: My Experience Using A Smart TV by Ojady(m): 2:58am On Jun 24
The questions we should be asking is when will subscriptions be unlimited? why are internet / telecommunications providers unable to provide unlimited data on a monthly basis? All these limits: 20GB etc are a rip off compared to how much they are making annually.

If spectranet works in your area, I think it's a sure game.
Subscribe on their double data days for monthly capped data which is 8,250 make a for 50gb.
That's what I use for my smart tv since gotv's ego and they decide to be rude with their prices .

Those who like TV and movies too get wahala. I don't enjoy sitting down watching TV and I am encouraging my kids to not grow addicted to TV too. It wastes time and money.

I switched to IPTV live streaming by getting an android TV box last month. I also got Airtel 5G router. With the experience I have had so far; I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO DSTV OR USE ANY CABLE TV.

I watch more of Geopolitics news and football but hate it that I can't have access to RT news which is my favorite news network. I hate all the CNN, Bloomberg, BBC, Reuter, DW, France24, Euronews, Skynews, Nbc, Fox new of this world

They are all western manipulation and propaganda machine. I despise them all. The only news source I consume are Russian RT news, Al Jazeera and Chinese CGTN. Since the start of Russo-Ukraine war, RT was banned from YouTube. I couldn't get it anywhere, DSTV use to show it but they stopped even long before Ukraine war.

Ever since I began Livestream I have access to RT news, I have access to all live sports for free, I stream blockbuster movies and even old movies from yesteryears.

Sometimes I wonder why it took me so long to discover this. At this point, I don't care how much I spend on data, (currently I do the airtel monthly 20k unlimited data subscription), as long as I have access to what I enjoy to watch. I will stick with streaming.

You don't believe the other side is dishing out propaganda, too. Or you just prefer Russian propaganda?

To me, Western propaganda is more subtle, but Russian own is the in-your-face type sha.

Both dish out propaganda sha.

Thank you very much. With regards, I don't know how legit the stats below are but they consume that much when streaming. Apps like Netflix should be subscribed on HD if you want to consume less data but still want to login directly from the tv. A good 4k TV should upscale the picture quality. It will still improve the picture quality but might not give that much details to the video.

Do you have the 32 inch size of the above specs?

Yes they do, we just got 1 last week and for the first time in years we are not bothered about data exhaustion for work and for entertainment.

You just got it last week and you already know it’s unlimited all through the month without data throttling?

Come on now.

Hello, just installed my DSTV after a long hiatus since 2022, the decoder came on and began upgrading but it suddenly stopped sending signal to the TV, and showed a yellow light on the decoder, which refused to switch to green or red when the power button is pressed.

I've informed DSTV and they told me to bring the decoder tomorrow with the power adapter to their nearest office.

The installer is telling me the decoder installation probably hanged, and I might need to buy another decoder.

Abeg make una epp me oh, I just bought this decoder brand new in 2020 oh. So decoder go just spoil within 4yrs laidat ni?

Same reason why I opted for a normal TV and avoided spending unnecessarily for something I may never get to use.

I am not a TV person, my partner isn't a TV person either. We both go out and come back at night. As a matter of fact that TV has been off for over 3months nobody bothers to on it , I wonder if it is still working sef

I bought it brand new last year from fuoani stores. A 55" tv. I saw smart TV but asked myself if I needed it, I told myself no and went for the one I got.

Today, TV is useless just hanging there as decoration

Your mistake is using the smart TV pre installed apps. What guys with tech know-how are doing is just get Amazon firestick and connect to the TV, then subscribe unlimited data. With firestick it consumes less data and you still have more TV channels at your disposal. Do your research
Please where can I buy this firestick from?
I stay in Enugu ATM.

I've only been using "X88 Pro 10" and I bought it around 6k 8years ago. I guess they all do the same thing. I haven't tried others so it's difficult to recommend, however, just like phones, there are high end TV boxes such as Apple and Nvidia Shields boxes. And so many things also account for the price differences too. E.g Storage Capacity, RAM, operating systems and versions.

If you're going to be downloading lots of movies, you may want to consider the one with high storage capacity.

Thanks. I am not really worried about it as I have gotten used to data and electricity costs due to my work. However, people kept mentioning smart tv and I almost thought it was free to use. So, it was more of a shock for me.

The airtel 5g router sounds like a good idea. That is if truly Airtel offers unlimited at 20k.

Forget smart TV and get android smart box.

Not expensive comparatively to DSTV. And it's advantages far outweighs DSTV.

It's like heaven and earth worth of difference!

Between this free stick and Google chrome cast which is worth buying. And which is more easier to connect.

true... very expensive (thus beats the purpose)

IPTV is a term for apps out there that will give you all the channels of the world on your device (premium Movie channels, premium sport, premium series and documentary, children and adult content etc from everywhere around the world... some are free, but most have a small fee. i pay €45 per year, for unlimited content... i wonder why people with unlimited internet still pay for cable TV. here is what i wrote on the subject a while ago:

There are free IPTV. I don't know why you are dashing someone €45. And if you know how to configure Kodi, your world of entertainment has just begun!

Download Kodi from official app store and install super repo addons. You can send me €20 for this info.

Don't fΓ»ck with smart TV unless your data sub is uncapped

Meanwhile by the time you get that uncapped data you're paying more than DStv sub already... it's a zero-sum game

I've been using smart box for 8years now, and I can tell you that it's advantages far outweighs DSTV. It's like heaven and earth!

The problem is, most people are mistaken smart TVs and smart boxes up. They are two different things. Smart boxes uses data at the same rate as your phone. Attached is pictures of smart boxes

Installation of Starlink would cost you over ₦40 0k. And I think there's a ₦30k+ monthly fee. Good side is it's unlimited; monthly is monthly..no expiration midway.

Secondly, if you are on MTN, you could do a 150gb for ₦16k monthly on a MiFi (or your personal device then share hotspot). Dial *121# for the offer from MTN.

Either way, both the smart tv, Starlink and DSTv are expensive. I use them and I can tell you there's no cheaper option.

I stopped using DSTv too tho since I watched only football with it. I use a free app to stream Live Matches now.

Meanwhile, if you are the movie type, you can download Movie Box on Appstore or Playstore and download movies free. Any movies.

If you follow a tv program or want a larger selection of movies (selected for you), DSTv can help. There is a movie package too.

Netflix is also expensive but can give you latest movies too and you can't find every movie you want there cos some are on Amazon, HBO, Disney etc. You'd do a monthly subscription plus data.

Cheers.
nice
