ogododo:The Dele Farotimi dude is partly correct about a likely revolt from the Northern folks on the street level (and even other parts of Nigeria in my estimation) but he got me really pissed off and irritated with his glib talk and partial CLUELESSNESS when he started patronizing the Ibos and making it seem like Ibos are INFALLIBLE or some kind of absolute geniuses. This is far from the case as Ibos too are facing the already predicted massive economic heat coming out of the subsidy withdrawal and currency floating with the attendant hyperinflation. If a vast number of Ibos living especially in the urban areas of Nigeria where hyperinflation exists weren't suffering, why are Ibos also crying out and raining curses on multiple Internet platforms and even opening threads on NL to rain curses over the high cost of feeding? The initial bravado from some Ibos online was just the usual "packaging and bragging" which gave way to lamentations online and offline! He annoyingly didn't even mention the possibility of Yoruba folks revolting as well. Farooq Kperogi wrote about a video of some angry Yoruba women who said if they get to see President Tinubu they would beat him up because they perceived the Federal Government was aloof over the outcome of the fuel subsidy removal and economic policies. All the Governors and elected officials in all Nigerian regions too have a MAJOR role to play in bringing about sustainable modern agricultural development, elimination of armed banditry, and general economic development. It's NOT enough to blame one man called Tinubu but it is what it is with the article that Farooq Kperogi wrote within the last two weeks where he said some Northern kids were stoning President Tinubu's picture thereby simulating the "stoning of the Devil" in Mecca. I have looked at the economic outlook and indices for the next two months moving forward and this doomsday prediction ISN'T gonna happen! Because of the struggle to survive on a daily basis, a significant number of Nigerians are NOT paying attention to the news outlets. Just to emphasize here for everyone reading this, a brand new mega NNPC CNG refill station/plant in Lagos State has just been opened in addition to the new NIPCO CNG refill stations to sell CNG at the rate of N200 per standard cubic feet. Also, the brand new multimillion dollar CNG station plant opened to the public on May 30, 2024 in the Isolo Industrial Estate, Ilasamaja, Lagos State. The Facility has dispensing points for filling cars, buses, trucks, and tricycles, utilising CNG, and can fill about 3,700 cars or 600 trucks/buses every day, thereby providing a constant supply of CNG. Other CNG/refill station plants like that are scheduled to be opened in other geopolitical zones in Nigeria. I read online that several happy car owners and truck drivers have started buying cheaper CNG fuel from that NNPC fuel station. A delighted woman who was interviewed said she spends slightly less than N4,100 now to fill up her car with the NNPC CNG unlike the roughly N28,000 she has been spending to fill up her car with PMS. So, for those who are able to convert their cars and trucks to use dual CNG and PMS OR dual CNG and diesel in Lagos and Ogun States, they will readily get CNG in Lagos thereby leading to a sharp drop in the cost of doing business. Also, Lagos State is gearing up to launch into operation 1000 CNG and electric mass transit buses before 2024 ends. So, some folks can leave their cars at home at take the cheaper CNG buses. The Nigerian Railway Corporation from what I read last week online is already fitting there diesel locomotives to use CNG, so the cost of rail transportation would also drop. =>https://x.com/nnpclimited/status/1801161967031271679?t=nfN1JREdVmTxLiWOyNOLNw&s=19 https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/703956-nigerians-react-as-nnpc-begins-cng-sale-in-lagos.html =>https://punchng.com/fg-to-subsidise-cng-conversion-kits-by-50/ Second, with the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery PMS production and distribution scheduled to begin from the 17th of July, 2024, the two types of fuel (CNG and PMS) would SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the cost of transportation of people and food items. A lot of people in Nigeria have horrendous stories about NOT being able to buy expensive drugs and feed properly and it makes me wince atimes. They also have been too engrossed in the pressures of surviving daily that they aren't paying attention to the good news coming out the cng sector (from the ending of May 30, 2024 to the start of June 2024) and the impending PMS production and distribution which Dangote gave a final pledge would start in the middle of July 2024. Diesel and Aviation fuel price dropped to below N1,000 per litre when Dangote Petrochemical Refinery started production in 2024 as well. Only two African countries, Algeria and Libya currently refine their crude oil without importing any drop of fuel, so, with Dangote Petrochemical Refinery coming on stream, Nigeria would NOT import a single drop of refined fuel from refineries abroad again. After meeting the local daily demand for refined fuel in Nigeria, Dangote Refinery would be able to supply many countries with refined fuel thereby earning FX from exports. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ogododo: Dele Farotimi needs to shut up. If Igbo are that great, why is the SE a mess, or are the SE governors, not Igbo? Tinubu and Buhari are hopeless leaders, but let's not forget that an Igbo leader in the name of Ironsi gave Nigeria the unitary system of government, which is the root cause of its problems today. The likes of Dele Farotimi will turn Yoruba into a slave; he never offers solutions. I can stand the man. 3 Likes |
