raumdeuter:Michelin and Dunlop closed most of their factories during IBB. Read your link on Dunlop. They were already running skeletal operation before total shutdown, producing just 15% of tires. |
Re: Multinationals That Have Left Nigeria Since When Tinubu Took Over In 2023: by raumdeuter: 4:44pm On Jun 27 |
Ojuntana: Quote where they said they closed during IBB times. I knew Dunlop in Oba Akran and I knew they were producing in the early 2000s |

Re: Multinationals That Have Left Nigeria Since When Tinubu Took Over In 2023: by Ojuntana: 5:27pm On Jun 27 |
raumdeuter:Because I know for a fact that most tires were already being imported since the 1990s. As you can read from your links, the factories were only producing 15% of Nigeria's needs by then. Ok then. Let's accept two multinationals closed down during Yaradua. It still does not match the numbers we have now does it? |

Re: Multinationals That Have Left Nigeria Since When Tinubu Took Over In 2023: by Ojuntana: 5:41pm On Jun 27 |
raumdeuter:I think we are discussing multinationals here not just "companies". If 800 companies closed down when the economy was comparatively better, just imagine what the numbers will be now with the multinationals exiting. Each multinational has loads of vendors and services companies who get contracts from them who will automatically be out of business once they exit. So, it will be much worse now I can tell you. |

raumdeuter:Ok. This is the first one you can point to under Jonathan. And that is besides the fact that virgin Nigeria was more or less a govt enterprise like ntel. This Op counted 13 in just one year under this your disaster. Most of these companies are multinationals that have been in Nigeria for scores of years. |
