This is one of the reasons I stopped attending the church I grew up from.
A person commits the sin of fornication and the person feels guilty of falling into temptation and goes to meet the Pastor for prayers and forgiveness of sin. After that is done, the Pastor uses the person to preach on Sunday morning and announces to the congregation that the person is suspended from church activities and he should leave the church immediately to go home and "cry to God for mercy". Meanwhile, members look at such person with disdain, like he's the worst sinner on planet earth and condemned to eternal judgement, whereas they do worse in the secrecy of their corner.
Na who them catch be thief. 
Imagine my shock when one of the church strong disciples, one of his daughters have been sleeping around in town.

You wrote as though no other member of that church including the leaders had any skeletons in their closets. Let he who has no sin be the first to cast the first stone. The youth was being bullied and you say he shouldn't leave the church for his sanity  I'm not saying they should've pampered him but the whole church isolating him was extreme. The church has the right to take the decision they took. There are certain things that shouldn't be condone in a place of worship such as in the case of brother K, albeit it should be done with love.
Every person you see in the church from the top to bottom is not a saint, everyone is striving unto perfection.
The only mistake brother K made was leaving the church while under a disciplinary action. Irrespective of public or private rebuke.
It is wrong to leave a church while under disciplinary action. It is wrong because such person may not be able to get back on his/her feet again as in the case of brother K. He was supposed to stay under the rebuking process until he is reinstated back to his former position. |

There's only one place in scripture that open rebuke is mentioned and that was Paul. It can't be used a s a doctrine. There's a difference between rebuke and open rebuke. Your rebuke should be to save a soul and not destroy it. You didn't die for that soul, Christ did. So if your Open rebuke destroys the faith of a brother or sister, of what use is it? Scripture says to correct in love. where's the love in open rebuke? Call the brother to your office as a pastor, speak to him. Rebuke him and correct him. Ask him to stand down some of his responsibility and take some moments to pray. Don't give him back seat. I have never seen that in scripture. Let's not be too overzealous that we have zeal without knowledge. Visit him, pray along with him. Ensure he's restored. Rebuke in the Church of GOD is very well in place and Biblical.
Rebuke is For Correction and should be done in love.
No matter what you are in the church or what you are doing in the Church, a true Believer, who has A TRUE FEAR of GOD, Whether G.O, Pastor, leader , etc who falls to the craftiness of the devil and is being disciplined will not leave the church in anger.
He/ She will give in to the discipline, and take the time to make amends and get restored to GOD.
Your Soul in Eternity is much more than Whatever Title you hold in the church.
If you have know and Understand the Importance of your soul in Eternity, you will Personally give up whatever title or Position in the Church and give yourself to Reconcilation with GOD.
Title or Position CANNOT and will not take anyone to Heaven.
It is better to be an Ordinary Member going to Heaven, than to be a Go , choir, prayer or whatever Leader Heading to Hell Fire.
Bro You're one of the few persons I like and respect on this platform but to be candid with you sir, I don't support and I vehemently dislike your opinion on this matter. Many churches through the leadership these days have driven away from the tenets and the foundation of Christ. If you ask me a hundred time what would be the reaction of Christ on this matter I will say it's in the other way round. In as much as backsliding is not condoned in the kingdom, there's every possibility of a righteous man falling (it's only the grace that keeps us all standing). You see wickedness and hypocrisy are eating up the church and unfortunately many leaders think they're gathering for Christ but rather they're scattering from Him. Don't you remember how many time bro Peter misbehaved and fell and Jesus was still lenient with him even after the death of Jesus he went back but Jesus in His mercy and love still brought him back. Remember there is joy in heaven for a sinner that repent but what happens when we use our hands to put the sinner away to keep sinning? Constructive discipline is what Jesus practiced, He never chased anyone to hell because of their misdid. He even gave Judas Iscariot a chance to repent but the dude was hardened, insensitive and hellbent. The truth is every believer will keep growing until we meet with Christ. The grown ones have gone!
