typicalgamer:I've enjoyed Copa highlights than Euro. There are some Euro highlights I've watched which are so watery. I feel a rush more energy when I see a Copa highlights or is it the fiery commentary and mad tackles. I've enjoyed Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil. There's this Brighton boy in Paraguay, Enciso, boy is so good. |

mostob:I believe a country with three continental titles should be placed above a country with 1 world cup title . Also considering that they've only reached a final twice ( one in the WC they won and the Euros final against Italy the second one). |

typicalgamer: My description of Tiki Taka is heavy possession football. The emphasis is on possession. You can't have heavy possession without playing the possession passing game. Secondly, people keep talking about fast wingers. Biko nu, what does Guardiola do with Bernardo Silva and Doku on the wings? I have said it before, different coaches have different variants. What is key are the principles of build up play. Transitioning faster does not take the principles away. |

Odunayaw: Luis Enrique is more direct in his transition and attacking play than Guardiola. That does not mean that Enrique is not a heavy possession coach. This also does not mean Enrique plays direct football. Guardiola is more direct at Manchester City than he was at Barcelona. That does not mean Guardiola is playing direct football at Manchester City. 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: Yeah that is the issue. Spain don't use explosive wingers/strikers. That is why they sometimes struggle to score. They should leave the passing to their midfielders. In the last third of the pitch you have to explode and try and score. I don't think it is a total abandonment of tiki taka but a modification. I may be wrong as u have not really watched them in this euro but what is your opinion 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:This is where I disagree with you. For you possession football = tiki taka. Is it tiki taka that Klopp plays? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 6:14am On Jul 01 |
Mujtahida: We have possession football. That is where Tiki Taka and it's modifications fall under. Also, other possession dominant system. Playing to dominate possession and keep the ball is possession football. Even Klopp plays possession football. Tiki Taka has a higher emphasis on keeping the ball. From Pep Guardiola's statement. He who controls the ball, controls the game. That is why I used the term Heavy possession football to describe Tiki Taka. From my theory, 60% and above is Tiki Taka because it takes a lot of passing play to get to that regards. This is an overview. There is still more to it. Finito. |

Sweet AFCON Left to Caf to tilt all this positive vibes and use it to make AFCON a even more better tournament with a commercial leaning than before. Germany V Spain... Pk loading. But if na Kai Germany wan use win the match... 16 clear cut and biggest chances, 17missed, score 1. This Swiss team will give England bigggg problems. Their set up is way more fluid and play up well. |

🇳🇬 Victor Osimhen’s plan is still to leave Napoli this summer as movement is expected soon. After quiet June, Napoli expect proposals to arrive for Osimhen as he could be on the move; the release clause is around €120m. Preference for Premier League but story still open. #fabrizioromano 3 Likes 1 Share |

After weeks of thinking about the Super Eagles my final conclusion is we need to forget this dream of playing beautiful football and just try to win games. Basically what I'm saying is we need to get back to ABF 10 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: Is there really any difference between tiki-taka and posession football? Tiki-taka is just a slang that emerged as dominant teams started to retain possession for as long as possible while moving the attack forward to break heavy defenses of smaller teams since 'negative football' started becoming an effective counter measure for them. The most efficient way to break a compact defense is a compact attack. And tbh, this idea of team patterns doesn't even make a lot of sense. A lot of it is just being propagated by the media. You'll never hear any top manager talking about playing pattern or style. Football is dynamic and is mostly based on exploitative and reactive strategies, and that depends a lot team/individual skills and that of the opponent you're playing. In fact most of the strategy coaches employ goes unnoticed by the fans and media. Only trained eyes can catch it. All football teams play that 'tiki-taka' at one point or the other when the flow of the game makes it possible. By trying to hold possesion in your opponents half, you outpass them and create attacking chances that can be exploited. It is easier to do that than to try to dribble your way through. In fact, most dribbles only work after the chances have been created by passes. 2 Likes 1 Share |

JohnBullMySon:Does Klopp play possession football? Yes. Does he play tiki taka? No! Samba was a joyful, exhilarating possession style of football. Was it tiki taka? No! Tiki taka is that mechanistic, atomized style of football where passes more than an any other aspect of the game predominate. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Odunayaw: I will read the article later but from a glance, he is rooting his point on Spain's average possession being lower than some teams. However, the writer likely is missing out factors like other teams getting better in defending heavy possession and the lack of control Spain had against Croatia. Losing out in possession is not ditching the system. It meant the Croatians played it better. Ditching means abandoning the system and De La Fuente is actually a heavy possession coach, but with a more attacking variant. Not that Spain has ditched the system. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:34pm On Jul 01 |
Odunayaw: My point is that Spain did not ditch Tiki Taka but play it in a more attacking variant. However, in the game against Croatia, Spain were dominated possessively and not ditched the system. |
