casualobserver:https://www.nairaland.com/5957136/babangida-aikhomu-decorating-abacha-new Kindly read the above post by Naptu. Aikhomu became an Admiral after retirement. Admiral Ogohi was the the first Naval officer that attained the rank while still in active service in Nigeria. Followed By Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim. This was made possible because they became Chief of Defense Staff. 2 Likes |

HORLADY: You seem to have a problem with English. First you say he was a vice admiral, now you say he became Admiral after retirement. 1: either way he became Admiral before Ogohi 2: you clearly do not understand officialdom and how things work officially. His promotion was backdated so he became an Admiral while in service because he was still in service on the effective date of promotion. There is a difference between layman’s perception and official process and records. He become an Admiral on the date stated on the official letter of appointment as “effective from”. Just like you start work on the date stated on your appointment letter not the date the letter was written. If you understand how the civil service works, you will know a lot of promotions are backdated. I say this many times….Nigerians do not understand English, official process, official recognitionand the import of an official document. This is why we have useless arguments every election cycle over certificates and INEC. The official records state that Aikhomu was promoted to rank of Admiral while in service. To the layman and the uninitiated and uninformed, he was promoted after he retired from service. Write a letter to the Navy asking what rank did Aikhomu retire as and they will write back telling you he retired as an Admiral. Either way he was an Admiral (you initially claimed he wasn’t) and he became an admiral before Ogohi. It is Monday start of a new month, if you want to keep arguing, argue with yourself. 1 Like |
