Cheundaisi: Hey 🤠 1. I wont advise any none American prospective F1-VISA applicant to take MPOWER loan as a sources or proof of funds (POF). This is however my personal opinion, and should not deter a future foreign-student who can defend himself or herself with 100% guaranteed awaiting financial pool or employment back home. 2. But If you stopped a lucrative job (ie at NNPC, ExxonMobil or Google Africa etc) temporarily and sign a bond with your employer before taking the MPOWER loan as a sources of your POF, then you can easily convince the consular that you are going back to your home country after study while paying back the loan (outside USA). 3. MPOWER loan is being abused by some foreign students , and some Internet fraudsters. Aside these, student loans in the USA for international students are the worst for student visas, because you have to pay back that loan in a timeframe of about double years of your education duration as a result of the high rate charges. Therefore, every consular will assume you will stay back in the USA to work or drop-out of school. 4. "Never say never" If your permutations is directed towards the sense 2 above then why not ? Few students have actually proven F1- success courtesy of MPOWER. December is usually a happy month for all staffs. You can tailor your F1-VISA appointment towards that season. Best Wishes 🙏 1 Like 1 Share |

Cheundaisi:No issues with using Mpower loan, but make sure that’s not what you’re taking to the embassy as POF, you’ll be denied. 1 Like |

Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask. What are the application deadlines at U.S. universities? Like for example, if I intend applying to schools to resume lectures Spring 2025, when do I start applying and what's the deadline? |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by mayford: 7:51pm On Jul 03 |
VeeInsider: Hello, I've answered this question earlier. It depends on your school of choice. But applications are accepted as early as July - September and late applications usually end in October/mid November for International applicants. To see the application window of your intended school, check their website to confirm. All information about application will be there. |

mayford:Hello OyotunjiUSA, I emailed CU Boulder and their response was that application for spring will open 1st August. I want to know when spring admission decision is usually made. I also want to know when is the usual resumption period for spring. I'm aiming at Spring 2025 as a transfer applicant. Thanks. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by mayford: 8:26pm On Jul 03 |
ObamaMessi: I believe you quoted the wrong handle. Nonetheless, admission decisions are typically made within 1-2 weeks depending on the school and their vetting/confirmation process of documentation submitted. Spring semester resumptions typically begin around second week of January. You can confirm from the school website on their academic calendar. |

mayford:Thank you so much for your timely response. I'll request for my transcript because CU Boulder accepts unofficial transcript to process admission. I just hope that everything will be timely and F1 Visa will be approved! ❤️ |

DPO2019: This is not clear. How do I go about this? |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by MountainTop34: 11:28pm On Jul 03 |
Bigdoo11: If you received a full waiver that covers your tuition and living expenses then try hard to get a date in September. There will be no need to defer if you’re able to. The school will be willing to adjust your date of arrival. I know someone who arrived 3 weeks after official date. I honestly don’t think your EA will be approved especially if you’ve applied within the paste 6 months but it is worth trying! |

horcart: I think you’re good to go, prepare very well for this answer. You can rephrase like…..My mom, Mrs Bleep will be the one covering my deficit and I have a savings of $Bleep to serve as a backup funds should I need anything.. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by MountainTop34: 11:48pm On Jul 03 |
Slimszy: I think you deserved approval. If you can a new date I’m sure you’ll get it. Try and avoid her at all cost and pray. Also I don’t think you need to state your internship…. You can rephrase like….After obtaining my bachelors in History, I joined a art studio company focused on painting commercial and pent houses (look for something nice lol), my duties at the role include coloring of ###, depicting of ### to fit into grand pieces of furniture (I don’t know your specialty) that’s was how I came about my passion for art. 3 Likes |

Cheundaisi: Mpower loan will fly if you have a good chunk of your expenses waived. At the time I used Mpower loan for my visa application 2 years ago, my deficit was 15k total was 35k. I got a partial waiver so I used the loan to cover for the rest. I planned my response very well and included it in my application when I was asked what was the reason for my denial. This was my second interview so I was very prepared. So I think you should focus on getting some time of waiver first (full or partial) |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by TWoods(m): 8:48am On Jul 04 |
Slimszy: I highlighted your problem in a nutshell. Your bachelor's degree was in History, but you are seeking a master's in Painting? How do those go together? You've essentially abandoned your first degree and only stumbled on your love for painting when you joined an internship. Yeah, you didn't prove that you were a genuine student. 1 Like |

TWoods:To be frank, anyone that has been to Abuja recently and interviewed by her knows chances of approval is very slim. I know of at least three fully funded PhD she has denied. All these minor intracies can't be the reason. The PhD guys have profile intact infact two have been approved on second attempt within two weeks to two months interval of first attempt. 1 Like |

idirect: Lol no one needs to see your work ID except you're just being proactive enough in the event you may want to provide it to the Consul for workplace identification purposes. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Slimszy: 11:46am On Jul 04 |
TWoods: Are you saying the University that gave this admission doesn't know what they are doing? I was interviewed by 6 Professor in my school of choice and got full funding in two schools out of the 3 I applied for. I have a robust work experience of 8 years and I have an excellent career from home showing in prestigious galleries locally and internationally. All this can be verified with publications and interviews on the Internet. How well do one proof to be a genuine student? What is even a career? Isn't it work experience? Btw, I wasn't given an opportunity to even talk about my work experience or my research. How am I supposed to chip this in? 1 Like |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Slimszy: 11:49am On Jul 04 |
Scholar212: Exactly, I believe there is no one way path to this visa approval thing. It's purely meeting the right VO interested in ones profile and whatever you have to say and above ALL God's garce. This particular VO that denied me, denies many fully funded students for whatever reason I don't know. |

Hello guys, I need some advice. So my passport expires in November 2026 and program ends in December 2026, is this going to be an issue during my interview?.. I heard that your passport has to be valid at least 6 months after your program ends... Please someone should shed more light on this |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by chidiakwari: 1:38pm On Jul 04 |
Greatkenny2:No. you only need at least 6 months validity before your interview. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Adeore15: 2:32pm On Jul 04 |
chidiakwari: Here is my situation, my passport will expire January 2025 and my visa interview is this month (5 months), I already applied for a new passport which obviously will not be out before my interview. What should I do? Will my visa be approved? |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by mayford: 3:03pm On Jul 04 |
Adeore15: You don't have any cause for concern. The 6 months validity beyond intended stay or travel date requirement for Nigeria has been relinquished according to a 2023 Gazette by the State Department. So long as your interview date is before the expiration of your passport (I mean, your passport is valid beyond your interview date), you're good. You just need to apply for a new passport ASAP! And you're eligible to do so. Your visa will be stamped in your current (old) passport and even when it expires in January, you'd already have the new passport to travel with as well for airport validity checks. Passports in Nigeria are renewable if they'll be expiring up to 6 months ahead. So apply for renewal, and simply combine your old and new passports whenever you're traveling back and forth USA (because you'd certainly need a valid passport for your entire stay in America). For now, all your applications should be done with your current passport. |
