the problem for me is the double standard

when it was time to kick the wife out for witchcraft shirk no one considered she was doing this as a desperate last ditch move to save her marriage and stop an usurper. in fact i am sure the same imams and lawyers all bandied together to push out the unbelieving kafir

but when the tables were turned everyone is now defending lying

this is actually one reason why you have vitrolic feminists because they can see the game where men will gather around and use the religious texts to defend every thing they do where women get the short end if the stick

i am sure our former aviation minister and his children can therefore also lie on the Quran, since imprisonment means separating a family.
i am sure all our devout thieving politicians reference this hadith when they lie before nigerians , business partners etal

after all, i grew up with people shouting walahi talah in front of me while i knew they were lying
Lol...there's really no need for the gymnastics about that, the couple did the smart and expedient thing for them and their family.

Maybe na the agenda you don dey cook dey make dem fear begin quote hadiths wey no follow road cheesy

All u have done here is refuse to call a spade a spade.

The woman was beaten by her husband, the husband confessed same himself online and the wife also stated this in her tiktok post. A picture of her swollen face is on the internet.

Now she is in a law court where a Quran is presented to her and she swore to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.

She is asked about the beatings she received from her husband and she denied they ever happened.(even though every evidence provided by herself and the husband suggested otherwise).

What she is done is called " Telling a lie". Simple. There's no sugarcoating it.

Yes, we understand her reasons for doing that but it is what it is. Glorio.usGbola is right on this one.

it is fine to remember the hadith and Quran and act on them when it is time to kill kafirs who disrespect the Prophet,
it is fine to remember the hadith and Quran when it is time to take a second wife
but in cases of false witness, it is up to personal discretion

Where is the goalpost shifting here?

GloriouGbola called out the fact that the lady lying in court is actually a sin which the clerics are willing to overlook.

Then u said there's nothing wrong in refusing to give testimony.

But the news report said the wife "denied the allegations". Like she literally lied under oath despite her husband's and her own admission of the occurrence of domestic violence.

U are the one who is actually twisting and turning here bro. U have not brought to the fore a scriptural backing that says one is allowed to lie while swearing in the name of God. That's where we are

during obj admin, when el rufai was meant to be sworn in - he alleged that two senators [i think maina and mantu] demanded a bribe. el rufai came before senate and swore with a Quran on this. he challenged them to do the same. they immediately backed out saying they did not have ablution. maybe they needed to read the hadith being bandied around

I have read a narration whereby if you don't want to have someone punished there's no need to testify when asked of it but you don't know this narration.

https://erfan.ir/english/31423.html

In my younger days I used to read the Qur'an back to back. The Qur'an and Hadith are full of curses and warnings for bearing false witness. It is one of the major sins.

So much so that the Prophet said woe to he who tells lies to make people laugh! Woe to him, woe to him! That is how seriously Islam takes lying - to the extent that making jokes is bad.

But all of a sudden you are twisting yourself into pretzels trying to make excuses for lying.

Yes, the Qur'an has a lot to say about stealing public funds. I read about a guy who was so afraid of Allah's wrath that he had two lamps one for doing the work of the city and one for his own personal work. So he swapped these while working at night. But our devout politicians from Atiku to those who brought penal code sharia to Nigeria and were ready to have people stoned for adultery have no problem stealing the commonwealth. I am sure they too will fish out some obscure Hadith. After all we were told the other day that you are not supposed to criticise leaders in public but in private as good Muslims.

You cannot carry to toga of a devout pious Muslim and then start double talking when it suits you.

Remember what the Qur'an says about the hypocrites.

They also feature alot in the Qur'an and Hadith. And how on the day of judgment their spines will turn to a single bone and they will be unable to prostrate with the believers

The court wasn't in session to formalize their reconciliation though, they were there to adjudicate on a crime and by them choosing to lie they made it impossible for the court to reach the truth of the matter.

Nobody is arguing whether lying/giving false oath is bad. We all know the gravity of it.

What I am saying is that there are places where it is allowed to achieve a greater good based on scholars analogy.

We can read the Quran/Hadith page by page and get some literal meaning but that doesn't negate the facts that there are pple who devoted their time to learn the contextual meaning of the text and are able to draw analogy; these are the pple who would be better grounded than us with a surface meaning. At least, I know there is Ijma and there is Qiyas.

Literally, eating dead meat is Haram but you would agree that one is allowed to eat it in case of necessity and the necessity has been defined.

Here, lying/slander/false oath is Haram but exception has been made if it involve reconciliation. We don't make the rule but the rule has been made with where there are exception.

Does that mean Islam promotes beating up women
If no, what he did was wrong and the woman lied on his behalf
I understand there are some factors that contributed to her lies but if this was taken to the sharia court
The woman will still be punished even after the assault
Do you agree?

The greater good would have been for Jarus to enjoy his happy marriage with his wife of 14 years and continue building. Rather he brought in a a second wife, which would have changed the equation form a partnership to a competition and a happy home to a jealous battleground. The greater good did not count in this case, but the Islamic rights of a man

The greater good would have been to laugh off the wife's pathetic attempts at jazz. Amina wetin dey happen na, on top wife no 2?e no hard like that. Instead a choice was made to divorce her and take away her children, who would then be reared by an indifferent and likely hostile stepmother? The greater good was passed over for shirk

But now when Jarus is facing possible criminal liability, the greater good comes into play and haram behavior is justified.

Of the men by the men for the men. We thank God for feminist coven sha. It is those witches and bitches that came through for their fellow woman. Otherwise by now madam would be back in ilorin middle aged woman in her family house being told to go and beg her husband and his new wife for forgiveness.

This kind of thing can make a person commit suicide.

They steal your man, your children, everything you put yourselr in for the past 14 years, all the while piously quoting the Qur'an at you.

.....I have been resisting the urge but since you won't let me breathe, let me use hadiths to counter you and justify the harmless, very necessary lie she told.

Humaid b. ‘Abd al-Rahman b. ‘Auf reported that his mother Umm Kulthum daughter of ‘Uqba b. Abu Mu’ait said she heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying:

A liar is not one who tries to bring reconciliation amongst people and speaks good (in order to avert dispute), or he conveys good.

Ibn Shihab said he did not hear that exemption was granted in anything what the people speak as lie but in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation amongst persons and the narration of the words of the husband to his wife, and the narration of the words of a wife to her husband (in a twisted form in order to bring reconciliation between them). (Sahih Muslim 2605)

....another source.

Asma bint Yazid narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“It is not lawful to lie except in three cases: Something the man tells his wife to please her, to lie during war, and to lie in order to bring peace between the people.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1938)

......tell him to back it with a Qur'an verse. Let me tell you difference between Qur'an and Hadiths.

Qur'an is Compilation of Allah’s [SWT] words, revealed directly to Prophet Muhammad [SAW], while Hadiths are what Prophet's Companions and Relatives said they heard from him [Note; Hadiths were compiled after his death].

Also know that, each sect has their own hadiths. For instance according to Imam Malik (ra) in his Balaghan (Muwatta Imam Malik, 1601)

Holy Prophet said: "I am leaving behind two things the Book of Allah and the Sunnah".

Sunni Muslims do hold the verse tight to their chests like bitcoins, cos it can also be found in Sahih Bukhari [Hadith]. LOL!

However, Imam Muslim (ra) in Sahih Muslim (Hadith: 2408) reported what the Holy Prophet said as: "I am leaving behind two things the book of Allah and the Ahlu Bayt."

Shi'a Muslims no dey carry this one play. LOL! What bound all of us together is Qur'an, whether you are Sunni, Shi'a, Wahbi, Sufi, Ahmadiyya and so on.

If anyone wants tell me about what Allah commands or Islam permits, show me Qur'an verse(s) to back it not Hadiths.
