Lack of proper mediation between the university, the FG and the Council for Legal Education is responsible for this.

Open University in the UK runs law courses, same thing with UNISA in South Africa, the only course they don't run is medicine & surgery... so why should it be different here in Nigeria just because it's an open university?

Well NOUN is not to be blamed. There was an issue with law school and NOUN stopped admitting fresh law students since 2015 and allowed those still studying the course to graduate since 2015.

From 2015 to 2023 is 8 years, all the law students are supposed to have graduated but due to the unserious nature of some students, they didn't graduate for over 8 years for a programme of 5 years.

I can confirm to all of you that NOUN recently graduated a lot of law students that finished their programmes. The ones that didn't graduate are the ones that failed some courses or didn't finish their projects.

Before closing the programme in final semester of 2023, NOUN gave all law students still studying to round up by second semester of 2023 because the programme will be finally closed in preparation for a fresh opening. So why didn't the students use the 2 semesters of 2023 to finish their programme?

Also, NOUN gave the law students that didn't graduate two options: switch to another programme within the university or transfer your credits to other universities and continue from there.

So why are you guys blaming NOUN? Investigate before putting out blames

Yes, it has to be scrapped as they have made mess of the course when they started admitting tomatoes and pepper sellers...and issuing them with certificates to go and do testimony in churches.

What is new in Nigeria, afterall there is this Vc I know that came on board in a federal university and asked for a review of students results a week to final papers. Do you know the trauma that caused most students till date? Nobody made a beeep. I thank my God I jumped into the wagon in 2011 when the Indians came around and showed us what modern technology is, countering all the ambiguity of American education. As far as I breath on this Earth, I will chop till I die. As for you all learning core practical courses in Universities like computer science, engineering etc... When the time comes, you will know why English is compulsory and Agriculture is optional. Reasons been that you will be blowing grammar untop empty stomach.

Judging from the recent (bad) news emanating from NOUN, here are my humble postulations:
1. The NOUN management is grossly incompetent and lacks vision; or
2. There is a coordinated strategic attack against NOUN (by the archaic cabals of the Educational Sector) aimed at thoroughly discrediting & taking them out of business.

But, what do I know? πŸ€”πŸ˜žπŸ’”

Bros, you are wrong with your first insinuation. I have a first hand experience of what NOUN entails. If you want to know about NOUN, then you can let me know. If not, don't criticise what you don't know

Noun is backed by law and globally accepted. It will shock you that the sound students are there because how will someone graduate a 4 years course after 10years, out of which you used 13 months for actual learning, 8 years for roaming and begging lecturers to sign attendance and collect scripts. NOUN must stand it's grounds before evil eggs cripple the motive behind it's establishment. Remember solar has replaced NEPA, any establishment that want to be a pain in the neck of an already suffering Nigerian, we will bench it neatly.

When we condemn the Nigerian way of doing things they say we're self-haters

Is this proper? Under which religious or moral system is this thing they've done to those students accepted or normal?

If not for deliberate act of wickedness, why not allow those already in school to complete their programs while you stop admitting new students

NOUN has stopped admitting new law students since 2015. Those ones still in the programme since 2015 were allowed to finish and graduate.

Now the question is, why didn't they graduate from 2015 to 2023 (over 8 years for a 5 year programme).

Still, NOUN told them first semester of 2023 that the programme will be finally closed after second semester of 2023 and that everyone still in the programme should ensure to graduate (there was a memo issued to all students on that regard). That was fair enough.

Those that are complaining now are those that didn't pass their courses or projects, thus, they didn't graduate.

So who do you blame?

Nobody just woke up and implemented anything. NOUN gave them ample time to finish their courses and graduate.

This year those that met the requirements for graduation were released and will be issued certificates soon.

Don't blame NOUN.

This is unfair and unacceptable, what will happen to these students now, NOUN should have allowed them to graduate and stop admitting new students

Why should a federal university like NOUN be having so much problems than private and State universities
Quite easy to say this.
The last Law Undergraduate Student was admitted before 2017, probably 2015 was the last time. They stopped admitting new students and gave the time between the and now for those in the program.me to round up. Maybe the time given wasn't enough though. While it is painful to o begin and not finish, it wasn't like NOUN didn't try to make sure all that are willing to finish up did finish up the programme.

3m to study Law in NOUN πŸ˜‚ ... Kai... This is a very big fat lie. Without CO, it is less than 400k because they are old students who didn't have to pay the new fees in NOUN.
