This is an understatement.
Many workers -more than 80 percent of them spend over 90% of their salaries or wages on feeding. Some even borrow to augment. It's a sorry situation that needs drastic intervention.

My brother na hunger go waya anyone that goes into cocoa farming because it takes minimum of 3 years and maximum of 5 years for maturity. Not everyone can go into cocoa farming, especially if you're not the owner of the land, hence, you farm for the owner as cocoa takes a long years to die. The name na baba no go die afi to ba da rugbo.

We spend 100% and not 65%, we even now borrow money to even cope well, and when the money comes, we settle the bills first and manage the rest and still borrow additional money.

I know the duration but it so worth it after the 5 years...you and your family are made for life ... you need your own land...200_400k should cover that

In which location will you get land at #200 - #400k? Price of land is location dependent.
If you don't have full control of land, it is not advisable to farm cocoa at all. There are many farm produce that brings great returns and not only Cocoa. Rice, soybeans, guinea corn, maize cassava are at high demand now and very cost.

That's the workers. What about majority of Nigerians that are unemployed, the youths, graduates. After youth service, they end up at home seeking for jobs for years. What percentage to spend on food?
The future is bleak for Nigeria. No country with this level of corruption can make it. NEVER. Corruption kills a nation. There is endemic corruption from highest to lowest, the leaders, politicians, the civil servants, the law enforcement agents. All levels and strata in government. It cant work. What the writer said here is just for the reading. People are already there to frustrate any measure to solve the problem. . there to divert the fund. And corruption cant be solved because you are using the same corrupt citizen to fight itself. Where is one or two non corrupt, the corrupt system will overwhelm him or her.
NOTHING WORK IN NIGERIA. Sadly, THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO DIVIDE. Each small units may be able to tackle its corruption better. I like Nigeria as one, but it cant work. NEVER.

Exactly divide into many small fragments that's sadly the true solution.
