Nigeria major languages are classified into three wa for Yoruba and related , zo for Hausa and related bia for Igbo and related,
Once u said bia for come u re Igbo, irrespective of oil, politics and location,
Igbo is a nation of many dialect in Enugu alone their about 54 dialect, there is nothing that makes someone from Anambra more Igbo than someone from Rivers , Delta Ebonyi or even Abia, every language have dialects it's in Yoruba , Hausa

Come to Igbo Nsuska has their dialect, Ezza has nkanu has Nike, nnewi , Ngwa ohafia Akpugo etc but what's make one Igbo is found in culture , mode of dressing, deity, market days, names food and dialect similarity if Igbo , I am an Ezza man and 98 percent of ikwerre language(dialect) is d same as mine I can speak it without stress

Intermarriage happens everywhere, since we settled closer to the igbos, our ancestors married Igbo daughters to avoid marrying their own siblings and somehow the Igbo daughters married into our land taught their children the Igbo language. And this practice happens till date where children found themselves speaking their mother's language. If the Igbos claim we came from them, let's hear their own Kanu and Ojukwu story about the ancestors of Ikwerres. Before the civil war, the Igbos came to settle in Ikwerre land and began to rename our streets bearing our true ancestral names to their language names. Now during the civil war they killed us and did a lot of evil to us whom they now claim is their brothers (since they're unaware of the language-work of their daughters married by our ancestors). Now, when the war was intensified, they ran away (why would they run if they owned the place?). When we saw how we were tricked by those tribes, we took back our properties they stole from us, we won the battle.
And somehow, The DNA of the Igbo women they married has been deleted down the line?

you woukd think they are attaching themselves to ikwere people because they love them but nope..

They have refused to develop their 5 plots of land because they lack the mental capacity to do it.
So they started attaching themselves to every igboish sounding name in south south because of oil and port harcout.

It's totally shameful.

You are the one calling Etche Igbo. Never seen an Etche person in real life who claims to be Igbo only online. Ngwa claim that they migrated from Ikwerre and if they decide they are Igbo that is their problem.

I remember one Ngwa fellow on nairaland here who was also talking about how they were misled to tag along with Igbo identity despite warning by Ikwerre.

Mek ona move on abeg

They deny affiliation with Igbos but claim they are siblings with Ngwas, Etches etc from the same Igbo tribes. How is that possible?

What they mean is that the Ngwa and Etche is not even part of South East but an extension of Ikwerre. All other Igbo areas are south East.

If Ngwa and Etche are sons of Ikwerre, then by extension those areas are Ikwerre and not the other way round

Trying to modify history again after realizing that the earlier modifications had some clear falsehood. Ekpeye and Ogba only had some migrations into Ikwerreland especially Emohua axis. All the Southern Igbos have a link ie Ngwa, Etche, Oratta, Ikwerre, Ohaji, Asa and Ndoki. Ekpeye and Ogba belong to the Niger River Igbos alongside Egbema, Ndoni, Oguta, Ogbaru, Ukwuani and Aboh. Ikwerres should stop playing politics with their history which is well known by every traditionally inclined Igbo man. There are 7 group of villages that make up Ikwerre ethnic nationality and all 7 migrated independently so Ikwerre is actually Ikwerre Asaa or Esa depending on dialect. The 7 groups at a time agreed to come together which is the origin of the term Ikwerre. Some Ikwerre elders coming together to appropriate their origin to one place and then Benin is like Americans whose clearly known origin is Europe outnumbering the original natives and then later having some Africans and Asians suddenly saying that they all originated from China.

The Ikwerres can claim whatever ethnicity they want, they can even claim to be Chinese. However, claiming to be Bini descendants is false for two reasons. Had they been descendants of Bini migrants, the name of their villages would have been Bini. The first thing migrants do when they arrive in a virgin land to settle is to give the place a name in the language they came with. I have not seen any Ikwerre community that has Bini name

Another reason why the Bini descendant claim is laughable is that the Oba of Bini himself said that Ikwerres are Igbos

On page 19 of Oba Erediauwa's book "I Remain, Sir, Your Obedient Servant", he said that Ikwerres and Etches are typical Igbos.

Why would he say this if indeed Ikwerres and Etches descended from his own kingdom?

Every single Igbo person on this thread has tried to forcefully make the Ikwerres admit they are Igbos. It's irritating to read
That's my thought too. I cant force anyone to be my brother. If they say that they are not Igbo then so be it. After all the ones after the Niger River readily agree that they are Igbo and it's quite clear that they eagerly identify with their Igbo identity then they are my brothers. Have you seen an Asaba man telling you that he is not Igbo?
All these talks everyday of repeating the same thing over and over again. Arguments that have been there before I was born. If an Etche man says that he is not Igbo so be it.

Your story does not make sense
African culture is patriarchal which means children take their father's name, language and culture.
So how does it make sense that you guys took your mother's names, language and culture.
Secondly, what were you guys looking at when strangers started renaming your land
It just seems as if you want to blame Igbo for everything

Well

More like saying badagry and lagosians .. same as yorubas having different indigenous tongues

Tongue differs just like when abakiliki man tongue, nsukka man, aba/ngwa tongues, anambra tongue, imo States get like 3 different tongues, orsu, mbaise and co tongues etc

We all speak differently in our dialect but we all have a common language which we all refer to as the general igbo language

Well, I don't think it's right to force anyone

But we need to checkmate this people because how come they speak general igbo and have igbo names and cultures yet they aren't together

Well my problem for now na this bill or creating orlu state, I no wan find myself outside ANAMBRA STATE na that one go pain me pass

Make them just leave am the way e dey than bring confusion, we've been like this for yearsssss and we no die

If them dey find wetin to created, make them create oduduwa republic, arewa republic and BIAFRAN and other states wey wan divide

Ikwerre are pure Igbos but due to politics to remain relevant in Nigeria they are saying they are not Igbos.

There is no way intermarriage will make them to forget their Bini languages and names. How can a group of migrants from Bini forget their names, language and Bini cultures and take up Igbo ones with no traces of their Bini ancestral heritage. Are they weak men, that have not happen anywhere in the world. Hausa in the north and Yorubas in Kogi and Kwara maintain their languages despite Fulani occupation and intermarriages.

And you further confuse yourself by agreeing that Ikwerre and Ngwa and Etche people are siblings but Ngwa people are proudly Igbos even Etche people, only Ikwerre people became Bini shocked cheesy

The confusion in Ikwerreland is beyond belief. How can one claim to be siblings with other Igbo clans but deny "Ancestral link" with the same Igbo nation? Is Ngwa not Igbo? Is Etche not Igbo?
By this Punch publication, Ikwerre, Etche and Ngwa historically have the same father and mother. They have tied themselves to the Igbo nation by it. It's expected that they review this publication not long from now.
Orogun clan in Urhoboland are siblings with Ukwuani (Delta Igbo) people, does that now make them Igbos?
