Yes, their wives taught their children the igbo language and it's a common practice in the world.
So the population of the igbos were already more than the population of the bini's(ikwerre) for the igbo language to i fluence the bini language(¡kwerre) because if one sheep i placed in the midst of a goat the sheep can never influence the goats rather it will be the other way round.

Imagine, Ngwa which has a larger population than Bayelsa State and the most populated Igbo clan is no more Igbo but Bini. Bini language and empire must have been neo-Igbo
Population of Ngwa is not relevant to the discussion
It is a totally tangential point

What was the population of the whole world in 1800
What was the population of Nigeria in 1900

Whether or not Ngwa us Igbo must start from definition
What or who is Igbo?

That is the starting point
Was there ever a country called Igbo?

How or what defines Igbo

As far as I know it is a creation of The British and Nigeria

You migrated from Bini and stopped answering your Bini name? Stopped speaking Bini dialect, stopped following Bini culture and tradition, refused to name your traditional rulers Oba but rather call them Eze and Igwe cheesy grin

And you further confuse yourself by agreeing that Ikwerre and Ngwa and Etche people are siblings but Ngwa people are proudly Igbos even Etche people, only Ikwerre people became Bini shocked cheesy

We need to hear from Oba of Bini on this discombulated history shocked grin
It is indeed laughable, imagine old men making mockery of theirselves. According to them, their Igbo wives makes them to forget their Bini name, Bini language and heritage. No traces of Bini cultures in Ikwerre land.

Intermarriage happens everywhere, since we settled closer to the igbos, our ancestors married Igbo daughters to avoid marrying their own siblings and somehow the Igbo daughters married into our land taught their children the Igbo language. And this practice happens till date where children found themselves speaking their mother's language. If the Igbos claim we came from them, let's hear their own Kanu and Ojukwu story about the ancestors of Ikwerres. Before the civil war, the Igbos came to settle in Ikwerre land and began to rename our streets bearing our true ancestral names to their language names. Now during the civil war they killed us and did a lot of evil to us whom they now claim is their brothers (since they're unaware of the language-work of their daughters married by our ancestors). Now, when the war was intensified, they ran away (why would they run if they owned the place?). When we saw how we were tricked by those tribes, we took back our properties they stole from us, we won the battle.

Hmmm....

The Igbos actually don't care. It's high time those calling them Igbos desist, they have been ascribing too much importance to them which have made their heads to swell. What have they achieved that made them think that they are soo important? Nothing.

In Rivers state, they don't have anything. They are denying their root because of oil money and other benefits of oil rich region. They are so lazy, timid and unproductive. Their only trade is womanize, smoke and drink kaikai, nothing else they know or do.

The Igbos calling ikwere people Igbos are bringing shame to the igbo nation, this must stop henceforth. Ikweres are useless to the igbo nation today, tomorrow and forever. They have nothing to offer. The lazy Ikweres are not Igbos.

The former Minister of Transportation said, “Ikwerre people should tell who they are and ignore all the stories being written about them. We will tell our story. Those who will play politics in Ikwerre land will project the image of the Ikwerre wherever they find themselves.”

This same Ubima lizard that went on air to proclaim he is ibo just to curry political support...ofcourse he would not turn up to the event...How would he spin this one when he has dropped a mighty poop on the pulpit.

Fear who no fear politicians.

Ikwerre are pure Igbos but due to politics to remain relevant in Nigeria they are saying they are not Igbos.

There is no way intermarriage will make them to forget their Bini languages and names. How can a group of migrants from Bini forget their names, language and Bini cultures and take up Igbo ones with no traces of their Bini ancestral heritage. Are they weak men, that have not happen anywhere in the world. Hausa in the north and Yorubas in Kogi and Kwara maintain their languages despite Fulani occupation and intermarriages.
Language can be forgotten man, in the Bible days Aramaic was spoken almost everywhere but where is the Language today. Did you think that the kids of most Japa people won't forget their Language undecided I have some Igbo friends who can't speak or understand Igbo due to their settlement in Ibadan since the time of their grandparents

Nothing funny about it
Fulani migrated from Fura Jallon and stopped speaking Fulani
They speak Hausa.

That language storyis a non argument
After all Heeboes are Hebrews from Jerusalem that stopped speaking Hebrew
The Ikwerre language is a language not a dialect of Igbo

My own is why are these people so shameless to still be dragging some one that has told you time without number that they don't like you, are not your family and do not want anything to do with you.

Have you seen any Igbo dragging Ikwerre people for anything. Is Ikwerre people that is always making the noise every year in their gatherings.

Who cares whether they are Igbos or not. The language they are speaking and their names gave them out as Igbos in Nigeria unless if they can start answering Bini names and start speaking Bini language instead of Igbo language they are speaking now.

Is just like Okun person in Kogi denying his not a Yoruba. Although he can claim to be Okun man but his name and language he speaks gave him out as a Yoruba. That is the situation of Ikwerre people.

Confused people. Be deceiving themselves. If not that Igbo southeast people are marginalized in Nigeria and if they are booming lots of minerals resources, they wouldn't have been capping nonsense cool.

Well, most ikwerre young people know where they originated from forget the politics of oil and criminality by the politicians and corrupt elders. They know the ancestral language they speak, the names they bear, the culture they are closest to. Meanwhile, the Igbos from todays's southeast region are not forcing them to belong, that's the fact. When the time comes their children will decide where they belong either Igbo/bini/Yoruba/Hausa, by then their won't be politics.

Your story does not make sense
African culture is patriarchal which means children take their father's name, language and culture.
So how does it make sense that you guys took your mother's names, language and culture.
Secondly, what were you guys looking at when strangers started renaming your land
It just seems as if you want to blame Igbo for everything
my dear oil won't be there for long, political persecution won't last forever, I fear for what there next generation will inherit, nothing like attachment , they are of no benefit to me, we shouldn't rewrite history because of instant benefit

When did Ikwere people attach themselves to you ?

You are confusing Ikwere for the ever confused Asaba people who will claim SS in the morning and be claiming Biafra in the evening.

Why did Ohaneze slate last year's Ibo day in PH but will later move it to Owerri after massive protest by Ikwere leaders?

You are the ones dragging them and not them dragging you

I like this.
Imagine running just because of war to where is their proper and rightful land and left this who are the real owners to die and after the war they intend to return to claim what is not theirs......
The igbos apart from the fulani's are the only tribe trying to claim other peoples land even in this age of technology.

Each time I hear this argument that "Akalaka" was a bini person, I fall off my chair laughing again.
"Akala" is Igbo word for "Lines or prints". "Aka" is Igbo word for "Hand".
Akalaka -> Finger prints.
Yet someone with a human brain will come tell me the name is Bini.
Ndi isi ojii eh ... their redemption is not near at all. cheesy
