Well, I believe Ukraine is already a de-facto NATO member cause no country in NATO has enjoyed the kind of support NATO has given to Ukraine. The only thing Ukraine has no access to now is the mutual defence clause in NATO that allows other member nations to come to the defence of a member nation under attack and that won't happen.

Collective defense is the most important.
Now Ukraine has weaponry but they're lacking personnel

âš¡The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday that China's largest coastguard vessel (CCG-5901) has anchored in Manila's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea.

The China coastguard's 165-meter 'monster ship' entered Manila's 200-nautical mile EEZ on July 2. The Chinese ship, which has also deployed a small boat, was anchored 800 yards away from the PCG's vessel.

In May, the PCG deployed a ship to the Sabina shoal to deter small-scale reclamation by China, which denied the claim.

At the start of the month, Hungary assumed the six-month rotating presidency of the EU Council. Orban stated that he sees his six-month presidency of the EU Council as a "peace mission." âš¡Masoud Pezeshkian, the liberal Reformist & Azeri Turk candidate for the Islamic Republic of Iran presidential elections, wins the Presidential elections!

Following the vote count, Masoud Pezeshkian, the Reformist candidate, won the presidential elections in Iran. Mohsen Eslami, the official representative of Iran's electoral commission, announced the results after 100% of the electoral ballots were counted.

According to Eslami's statement on IRIB television channel, based on the processing of 30.530 million ballots, the reformist candidate, who has become the ninth president elected in the history of Iran, received 16.384 million votes, representing at least 53.6% of the total.

Pezeshkian winning an election with the lowest turnout in decades. Says a lot about the grievances and continuing waning legitimacy of the Ayatollahs regime.
But is a tactic from them to allow a conservative win instead of an hardliner so as I boost legitimacy.

Regex:

I'd like to read the background of this Masoud. Is he pro nuclear weapon or not? Lord.Adam16, Master.violence, App....

Masoud favors appeasement. At least that's the sense I got from him on the campaign trail and in the debates.
If he was in Russian politics, we'd describe him as part of the fifth column Atlanticist bloc who want rapprochement with the West.

Jalili is the hardliner who'd have been more open to pushing for a nuke or doing whatever it took to establish deterrent.
But the downside of course is that he is a fundamentalist Islamist.

I think Masoud candidacy was a play by the Ayatollah to douse domestic tensions. Foreign policy is dictated by a broad coalition, so Masoud alone wouldn't for example be able to singlehandedly press pause on resurgent Iranian nuclear plans.

To wrap up, the complication in Iranian politics is that the folks who are most likely to be pro-nuke and pro-multipolarism are the ultras (the fundamentalists who want to dictate the nitty-gritty of social norms). And domestically that's a huge issue, because the cross-section of Iranians, like the Turks are very intelligent people who don't dig hardcore Arabic Islam.

For instance, hijab is not supposed to be a big deal, most would say it should be up to each practitioner. But the mullahs, like all religious figures around the world, want a more orthodox social paradigm, because that's the spring that feeds their power and influence. Unlike Turkey, whose current political system was founded by a moderate nationalist; Iran's current political system was founded by a fundamentalist Islamist.

So the folks who want more secularism in Iran tend to also hold the positions of or align themselves with those who are Western-facing. Iran needs a moderate nationalist; but the Guardian Council vets the candidates. So they can't have an Obi or Farage just wake up, move or found a political platform then run on that sh*t, ascribe independent power; then use that to force change and permutations amongst the establishment.

But we'll see. Politics a game of appearances. Maybe Masoud has said all the right things to get elected and would eventually become a Putin-lite. That said, odds are he will essentially be a slightly leftist Rouhani.

âš¡Trump advisers propose resuming nuclear tests if re-elected.

— This move would end a decades-long moratorium on explosive nuclear testing observed by major atomic powers since 1992.

— Robert C. O'Brien, Trump's former national security adviser, outlined this proposal in Foreign Affairs magazine.

— He argues that the U.S. "must test new nuclear weapons for reliability and safety in the real world" to maintain superiority over China and Russia's combined nuclear stockpiles.

— A U.S. nuclear test would violate the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, signed in 1996 to curb the nuclear arms race.

— During the Cold War, the U.S. conducted over 1,000 nuclear tests, far more than other nuclear powers.

A liberal reformist won, not a conservative.

The turnout in this election was 49.9% or 50%.
Better than the last.

You can't compare this election to the SHAMBOLIC election the United Snakes held in 2020.

Lastly, copy right next time.
