What has this really done for west Africans ? All on paper

How will you know the importance when you are stuck inside your hole.

We travel West Africa without visa inihibition. We understand the value. You don't because you are stuck and lack proper exposure.

You are just like an ungrateful people who always say Nigeria has done nothing for them, meanwhile Nigeria has been paying subsidies on Education, petrol, electricity and even forex for ages.

Bunch of cynics

Security cooperation among these countries keep the attack on this threshold. It could have been worse.

Appreciate your country, for once in your life.

The idiot and senile fool that he is, imposed sanctions immediately without the option of diplomacy, thinking Nigeria had a leverage.....the stupid idiot reversed the sanctions on his own when he saw they were not working....

Some people labelled him as "experienced stategist"

Na experienced idiot

Hope you have a farmland to grow vegetables, rear cow and plant beans and onions? This your chest beating isn't enough oo. There would be no more free entry and exit into those 3 countries anymore. I hope you know what that means.

60% of cows, beans, pepper, onions, cooking gas we consume in Nigeria come from Niger. Google is your friend. Now there would be trade barriers, stiff diplomacy, etc before we can access those stuffs.

The best way to avoid food crises in the sub-region is to look inwards and begin growing what we used to import from them. While the section lasted, they were selling to north and south africa and they can still continue. Did you hear them saying ebinpawon, despite the sanction and border closure? The last time I checked, beans, cow and cooking gas became very expensive and Ghana complained of scarce onions. Expect heavy tax on our pipeline we're constructing to Europe too, which pass through them.

Tinubu caused the nonsense. He didn't manage the situation intelligently. In buhari or obj era, it won't happen.

this must be one of the most myopic posts on naira land this year. if they are the ones losing, why did Ecowas lift sanctions unilaterality and begging them to come back.

You lack understanding that what is happening in those countries are nationalistic revolt against imperialism through the French government, that why those coups have remained popular with the people.

...rather, its your "democratically elected" politicians thieves in Nigeria that are currently having a "FILLED DAY" with your common wealth. Go to Dubai, almost half of the high rise buildings have been bought by Nigerian politicians(even local govt councillors)

kingsways:
Let them go

Na dem go lose, those three are not any way as big as the others combined

#No beg anybody

ALL SANCTIONS SHOULD BE RETURNED AND MORE. THE DICTATORS WANT TO HAVE A FILLED DAY WITHOUT PRESSURE FROM ECOWAS

#Fire for fire

Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali are facing more potent threats now than before the military took over. The refusal of the military leaders to return to ECOWAS is because they want to prolong their hold on power since a return will force them to negotiate a return to democracy.
The three cannot survive by themselves. They have even foolishly replaced their former imperialist power with another.

There was nothing ECOWAS or President Tinubu could have done but go to war to unseat these power-hungry military men. And, of course, Libya and Iraq have taught us a lesson about foreign forces uprooting a government without a homegrown succession.

The three countries will be worse off in 5 years than they were 20 years ago.

Definitely they won't go far. Just a matter of time. Once there is a coup in one of them, that will be the end of their treaty. The union is not formed because of the betterment of their country but just to consolidate power. Forget all these their noise.

The craze ti spread democracy within the subregion has significantly reduced ecowas to a doormat status. Ecowas was ecowas when we had ibb and abacha. I remember tom ikimi publicly shouting at head of the coup in sierra leone at the presidential palace in freetown. Few days later, the coupists relinquished power.

Niger, Mali, Burkina Not Going Back To ECOWAS

Good for them, I only wish Nigeria would similarly act in her own interest and, for instance, pull back from all continental groupings ambitions mistakes and concentrate all her effort on Nigeria. Pull back from one Africa passports, pull back from borderless Africa, pull back from Trans Saharan highways, never contemplate single ECOWAS currencies etc.

Much of these unifications are for the benefit of Europe and the West that plan to exploit them as a backdoor means of exerting control on nations like Nigeria and South Africa through thire control of lesser Africa nations. South Africa will only give such semi unification aims lip service even though the West has more influential control on them than Nigeria.

It's not enough to be ranting on social media as usual. We just need to look inwards, else the masses will feel the heat. During the period this LPG ban took effect, cooking gas price rose sharply in Nigeria

The way sinister online groups try to use happenings in Kenya to foment problems in Nigeria, is a small glimmer into how and why unifications aims such as one passport, one currency, borderlessness will not serve Nigeria well.
