Joebie:We are talking about football. If football dies, which Super Eagles will you watch? Anything that diminishes the game affects football whether national or league football. Tiki taka is a creeping poison. It's seeped through the pore of the game and it's killing it slowly. We won't wait until the gangrene has become irremediable. |

zicky:A player will have the ball, you'd see him look left or right looking to pass. So we don't have any expectations, no excitement, no suspense. Whereas in the past, once a player is with the ball, even if he eventually doesn't do something special with it, we have that expectation and most times we get served something special that keeps us hankering for more. 2 Likes |

Mujtahida: You guys just don't listen. No one says football in the past had less flair. It did have more. It was wonderful, it was breathtaking. Because of the gaps. We had poor and great players. Cafu could run rings around players 90 minutes. They will be gasping for air and Cafu would just be warming up. Watch how Bale destroyed Maicon. It was such a spectacle to behold. I watched and enjoyed them all. I can bet even more than most panting. From Recoba, Juninho, Robinho, Denilson etc. However, the game has changed tactically. Players are now tactically and physically better. Keepers can now easily come to join build up plays. Players now use softwares to analyze weak points in team. Players research is now astronomical. This has caused a reduction in gaps. Have you wondered why our breakdancing Brazilians are not coaching? The game is now beyond that dimension. Coaches today are crazy on the tactical boards. The gap has reduced and thus less flair. Meaning there are more better players now and less gaps. |

Mujtahida: No matter how you try to coat it, Ronaldinho and Robinho will not dance past a Liverpool gengenpress. Denilson will not skin past a player that has an exceptional jockey, coupled with covering players in the zone. To enjoy football, you need to watch it on a tactical perspective and not wait for one player to lift the ball and keep everyone on their feet. That time is gone. |

Xabi Alonso took Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga without losing a match. Michel Sanchez took Girona from the lower league to punch among the big dogs like Real, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Gaps are closing. I have seen wolves press and cause my team, Manchester City trouble. It is no more like the past where we have big dogs and small dogs. The gap is closing and this is due to Tactical growth. The joy in football is no more technical but tactical. Ronaldinho and their likes should go and do their badges and coach the Samba let us see. |

When Zidane coached, is it individualistic flair his team was playing? Is it not possession football? |

Watch this short clip. Is this the kind of situation you want Awilo dancers on the ball? The only way to beat this kind of press is smart possessive play. Every good team now presses. From club to country. This gap is why we have less flair. Players are now better and Bielsa was one of those who made football so tight to play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUutIJsHN-4 |

When you watch a game today, it is not a one player thing. It is about dealing with the set ups. The press, playing out of a press. Outnumbering the midfield block, opening half spaces etc. If you watch football from this perspective it gets so thrilling. Remember, when Alex Ferguson met Guardiola in two Champions League finals, his team could hardly touch the ball. Let alone keep it. That is even 2009 and 2011, let alone today with so much advancement. |

SCORENigeria understands that a new Super Eagles coach will be announced soon. This followed interviews conducted for shortlisted foreign coaches. “Everything is still hush-hush,” a source told SCORENigeria “But it is already known that the NFF president and the Sports Minister were in London this past week in connection with this appointment. “The announcement of the new coach for the Super Eagles is now imminent.” Some of the coaches interviewed virtually with NFF technical committee Vice Chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu, NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen as well as the NFF general secretary understood to also be in attendance. The identity of the new coach remains a mystery just as the trip of the NFF president and Sports Minister to London was shrouded in secrecy. However, at least two of the coaches interviewed have a good track record working in African football. Last month, the NFF announced they will appoint a foreign coach for the Super Eagles after the country’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup took a big body blow. They said the new coach will be in place before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers begin in September. Nigeria are drawn with 2026 World Cup qualifying rivals Rwanda and Benin as well as Libya in Group D of the 2025 AFCON qualifying tournament. |
