Cole is a man of luck. He slept with two women whose families would have beheaded him if they found out.

Cole could have been burnt by a dragon before his first raid/rallying of banner men. He was lucky that Rhaenyra was not out for war at the time.

He was even lucky not to ignite a full out war with his "twin" plan to kill Rhaenyra. Some people do not take failed assassination plots lightly. Even if the plan succeeded, Daemon would have burnt king's Landing to the ground in revenge.

Cole is not a strategist. He is a Knight with plot armour
