They think the masses are as daft as they are?

The humongous amount of arrears that these guys were owing Abia workers is out of this world until Otti came and is gradually offsetting and cleansing their mess. It will take a while but I believe Otti will clear everything.

These that are protesting should first check if they are amongst the ghost workers initially struck out by Otti...

At least he is not owing like them grin

The champions of these protests are the ghost workers, workers collecting multiple salaries from different MDA's, workers already 'japa' but names still in state payroll, workers who refused to turn up for verification, workers like cronies of past PDP personnels, workers the last governor employed on the 11th hour of his administration etc.

I work at ABSU. The fact is that Okezie Ikpeazu's administration owed us for 11 months but now it's 14 months. We were engaging the past government over payment. Non payment of these arrears was among the reason why we voted PDP out and the fact that LP promised to pay all arrears before the end of last year.
Till now, they've not paid the arrears and have started adding their own arrears by not paying us April, May and June salaries, hence the need for the protest.
We've been subjected to series of verifications and nothing so far to show for it. We've accepted the fact that all politicians are the same and don't want to sit and wait for another series of unpaid salaries to pile up again.
But the protesters say 11 months but you're saying 14 months, why the contradiction? Are you saying the protesters doesn't know how many months the government is owing them? Please don't over exaggerate issue and pelt the people against the government. No doubt workers are worthy of their wages but they need to give the governor more time, as everyone know the time of state he inherited. I also plead with the governor to do something quick, even if he cannot pay all at a go, he should pay in batches.

My brother,
I'm not exaggerating. Past Administration 11 months arrears. Current Government, 3 months (April, May, June). Total 14 months.

But the news says salary arrears. Meaning it has been owed before. Check the meaning of arrears and stop misleading yourself and suspecting nairalanders.
So when did Otti assume power in Abia state? Was it yesterday? Now, if last month (June) salary is not yet paid as of today (9 July 2024), what do you call the unpaid June salary? Was he not the state gov in June? Is it salary in advance or salary arrears? Simply put, Otti never paid a dime as salary to ABSU workers since he became gov even though his minimum wage is still 18k.

Okezie's last allocation was 3.5B.
Otti started with 13B.

Make do with this information whatever you want.

I had always tell you to be calming down. These are arrears owed by former governor and the new governor had promised to upset the arrears in tranches but asked them to undergo verification to sieve ghost workers.
The governor had owned up to owing the workers since government is continuum. Be calming down, it's an arrears and the government of Alex Otti promised to pay it.

We put Ikpeazu on pressure too. Everything is not an attack on the government. We all joined hands to castigate Ikpeazu's government and we won't stop now.

This is the last time I'll reply you.

This is where the government said they are now ready to pay all arrears... That was June 2024 not up to 1 month.... So why the protest

Now, which one should we now believe. You claimed 14. The protesters claimed 11. The news paper you posted claimed 13. I am not saying he is not owing but news has it that he asked the workers to undergo verification. I hope you've done your verification? Doing verification for 11 months and workers' salaries are withheld till the end of verification? So if the verification takes 4 years, workers won't receive salary for 4 years? How does that shyte even make sense to you?

Now I understand. 11 months sounded like debt procured under a year which is under Otti.

I pray you all get what you’re owed, you worked so hard for it. If Ikpeazu is owing 14 months salaries to thousands to Abians plus the 29 billion procured debt before leaving office, then why is Otti sweeping this under the carpet instead of probing Ikpeazu?.

You're right.
A little correction though...
Ikpeazu = 11 months
Otti = 3 months
Total = 14 months.

So it is all of them that are yet to do verification right? Or what other excuse will you come up with again.

This is the same Otti that is yet to implement the current 30k minimum wage that is being reviewed, and states like Edo are already paying new ones. He's still paying 18k minimum wage. Oya blame Tinubu, Yorubas and the workers for that one again. Mischievous and hypocritical lots.

Go sit down one side

The governor has made it clear that he will pay it in trenches. He said it in June 2024 last month.

They where there and ikpeazu owed them over 24months, some 11 months and they didn't close the school or shutdown the state or even protested.

As for the minimum wage the governor came n saw it and now agrees to implement the new 30k

Just I have said, owing workers salary is totally wrong because I don't expect my salary to be withheld or unpaid too. It's a total administrative failure to have owed your workers.
However, what was former doing to have owed upward of 11 months but the governor not paying three months is a little bit justifiable since he claimed he was doing verification because of ghost workers but if I were him I would have pay even half salary each month and then after the verification I will now pay the full.
But all in all it was wrong not paying them for that long.

Please go back and read all my comment, I don't support blindly like you people. I did said it from start that it was wrong for the government to be owing her workers because I am also a worker, I know how it feels having late salary, let alone not paying at all, not one month, not two months but 11 months. That was totally wrong but the governor justification is he is doing verification and it was an inherited arrears.
Remember that there was a claim of ghost workers in the state and the governor is trying to filter them out, only is taking long.
