The church should have done something significant before now. May we not have another building collapse in Lagos again especially a church
Re: Structural Failure: Lagos State To Demolish Gbadada Catholic Church by Belurved1(m): 1:39am
It can only happen in Nigeria. I belief the building committee didn't not stick to the approved budget meant for this building. Haba Catholic church ke. Na Catholic church get the best building design of church across Nigeria (my opinion).

why were they waiting for government to pull it down when they can clearly see it has obvious defects? undecided

The church management or building committee should be proactive to fix the structure or rebuild or major renovation.
Re: Structural Failure: Lagos State To Demolish Gbadada Catholic Church by stampo: 2:19am
If it's overall interest of d safety of the worshipper..I agree with the government on this.. but on the other hand, government should make an alternative arrangements to accommodate the church members while plans are ongoing to rebuild the church still by the government..
Failure to do that may attract negative feedback from all works of life..

Church committee don chop money

If dem say make dem pay tithe and offering, some persons will start calling pastors names. Sha pastor wa no get work than to preach the gospel go fit pay for church maintenance. Tho some pastors are using church to cash in but still, money will still be needed to maintain the church and use for missionary work and so on.

Money for iron alone is more than 100M.

That thing is not less than half a billion. The foundation alone should be about 150M. It's built on a swamp.

Many times while standing inside the compound of Solution guest house many, many years ago, I've always pointed out the fact that the building is distressed....One wonders why it took the LASG so long to go into action..........thank God it did not give way before this much needed intervention shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Prevention is better than cure..... If na me the church cha, I must sue the contractor oooo
churches dont use contractors. They rely on pro bono services from church members that are "engineers".

I have written about this before here on nairaland. There is one they are building in mz area. The chairman of the committe is a civil engineer who contracted his personal house building project to another engineer. His deputy is an agric engineering lecturer. The church like free things and rely on church members to execute projects.

In rural areas, the parish priest also combines his pastoral work with "engineering"

Choi 😳😳🙄,so this beautiful and gigantic building is going down?

I think the engineer that managed/supervised this building must be sanctioned by the govt and church authority
Re: Structural Failure: Lagos State To Demolish Gbadada Catholic Church by historic: 8:27am
Please bring the building down before it comes down on people's head during mass... Prevention is better than cure. I am a Catholic anyway but have to say the truth.
Re: Structural Failure: Lagos State To Demolish Gbadada Catholic Church by UndissolvedMeta(m): 8:29am
Yes. You made a point chief, but have ever try to ask how the JW are doing it? They don't pay tithe, yet they are one of the most wealthy organization in the world.

Am still trying to run a research on how they do this effortlessly.

I doubt if indeed Cappa D Alberto handled the construction sir, maybe na Cappa on the paper while it's baba Azeez and papa Alphonsus and Ekeminini on the site 😂.

StOla:
Obviously needed.

I believe this Gbagada church was one of the outstations of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Maryland, before it became a full parish itself.

If it is, that church was likely built by Cappa and D'alberto, who built the Maryland parish too.

Cappa and D'alberto no be moi moi construction firm.
