Oga something has to be done before it escalates into a full blow crisis. The local production has proven insufficient.

EmeeNaka:
Tinubu is grasping at straws. He is seeking for any political goal to score as all his policies has failed Nigerians. He is trying to experiment if importation of rice and wheat will reduce hunger in short term, so he can atleast win something. But it's clear that's another ill-informed decision which will cause more anguish. The Lagos Fraudster politician, who appropriated Nigerians effort in Lagos as his own achievement, has failed to achieve anything positive since his ascendancy into power.

Opening the doors to importation will crash the price of goods.

Imagine if the price of flour and sugar falls to half its current price.
Imagine the ripple effect on the price of bread and cookies.

These ones are insane.

Local foodstuff is more expensive than those imported into the country, but we should not import because it would erode the "progress made".

What smelly progress?

Does hunger care about the location of food?

Nigerians want to eat and food is expensive.

If importation will fix that, then let it be so.

If local farmers will suffer for it,

Then thats their business

These people are the mafia that enjoys the high cost of foods by increasing prices arbitrarily!
The govt should even make it 1year duty free not just six months, then re-evaluate. The food inflation in Nigeria will lead to something else if not checked!!

Mad, selfish, egotists. They can't feed the whole nation, millions are starving, they hoard commodities to maintain a stranglehold on pricing and sell at exorbitant prices. Now, the government is taking a proactive step to stem the current famine and they are now screaming. Even the US, with all their agricultural feats, still import food. They are holding the entire country to ransom and don't want to stop.

Greedy Nigerian farmers. If you blame the rise of foodstuffs on transportation, what about 4 cups of garri for 1000 in the village. Upon say na there they make production

Criminals masquerading as farmers. Misleading the FG that they are producing enough food to take care of demand when they know they are not. Its all about accessing one agriculture loan or grant and use it to live large while the country goes through hell due to food scarcity. If you know how much FG has spent on these fraudulent farmers and nothing to show for it, you will cry for how heartless a person can be to his or her country. Hard to fine a farmer who took loan from the Federal Government through CBN or any other that returned the money without telling stories.

BUHARI destroyed this country. Mr Tinubu don't consolidate on his shadow like proscribed gains BECAUSE THERE ARE NO GAINS OF BUHARI GOVERNMENT BUT PAIN CAUSED.
My advice for Mr president dismantle the 8years shackles of buhari and start building your government afresh

Greedy farmers, go to hell! These guys are really tormenting Nigerians.

Since you people have refused to be sensible, all foods should be imported; the government has been protecting you by raising food tariff to hefty 70 percent, but you aren't reciprocating the gesture by increasing prices at will.

God punish Una!

I can bet it that 98% of the members of this association are from the North. The stranglehold they are maintaining over food production, pricing and distribution is about to be eroded.

Importation should be the least of problems for Ibrahim!
What the association should be fighting or demanding from the FG is a conducive environment for local production like effective policing, stable energy, accessible roads from rural to urban areas etc

If the word in bold is the situation, why not join them

Oga, there is no where in the world where food is not imported to augment local products. Besides, Nigerians are too unethical and wicked to be left to control prices like these people have been doing for 9 years now. The scarcity of food in Nigeria is man made and political in undertones.
