Don't always be pessimistic. We will get it right. People are closer to their local government and will now hold them accountable. All the shenanigans by local government chairmen who don't even live in the council will stop

Great development. Tinubu will get it right gradually.

Shut up. It wasn't Tinubu's idea neither was he the one that went to court.

Is this not against the constitution?

(5) The amount standing to the credit of Local Government Councils in the Federation Account shall also be allocated to the State for the benefit of their Local Government Councils on such terms and in such manner as may be prescribed by the National Assembly.

(6) Each State shall maintain a special account to be called "State Joint Local Government Account" into which shall be paid all allocations to the Local Government Councils of the State from the Federation Account and from the Government of the State.

(7) Each State shall pay to Local Government Councils in its area of jurisdiction such proportion of its total revenue on such terms and in such manner as may be prescribed by the National Assembly.

Wow.
This is a landmark judgement.
We can now out a face and name to the Chairman of these various local governments and hold them accountable. Its time to be less fixated on the FG and SG. Lets ensure that the grassroot grts the benefit of democracy.
The Local Governments should organise various social welfare programmes such as Food bank, and Old people homes.
Kudos Lateef Fagbemi SAN. You really do this one.

Wait ooo..

I want somebody to put me through on what the Constitution is trying to say in Section:162- Sub-Sections; 5, 6, 7, & 8.

It's seeming somehow contradictory to this judgement..

Because I am not understanding anything here again.

Court should also allow FG to pay FAAC directly to local government instead of state governments.
From the ruling, funds will be paid directly to LGA account henceforth

Implementation will be the problem

The FG won't need to force any SG to abide by the law and judgement from the SC.
As long as there is no duly elected LG council chairmen and councilors then LG will not get their allocation from the federation account.
The main judgment has now empowered the FG to hold back the LG funds where there is no duly elected council members.
