Don't always be pessimistic. We will get it right. People are closer to their local government and will now hold them accountable. All the shenanigans by local government chairmen who don't even live in the council will stop

is it his pessimism that responsible for the poor performance of those in government?

How?

The first huddle of not conducting LG elections is crossed, because, it simply means no allocation for such LGAs in such State.

The next huddle will be on how citizens will ensure the Governors don't handpick these Local Government Chairmen...

Hopefully, new law will be passed for INEC to conduct or supervise the LG elections.

As for these new developments..it's a good one.

Ok.
Just dey play.
You'll now know that your LG chairmen are more looters than your governors.

Let's watch and see about that. There's no LG chairman that can bribe their way into office when it gets to the second tenure. Except they intend to withhold salaries for 3 months prio to elections.

They will bow down cos its FG that pays allocations. No elected LG chairmen, no LG allocation.

Good development.. even though it's the right thing to do.

FG will no longer pay State Govs the allocations meant for LGAs. This is the time for indigenous ethnic groups to wake up and guard their lands and LGAs jealously, elect competent Chairmen that will utilize LGA funds for the benefit of their communities.

If you people like, elect 'ajoji' (strangers) that will pack LGA funds and run back to his village to lavish the money meant for development, then come back later to blame Tinubu for your suffering.

Let's wait and see if this will reduce the hunger and hardship this current administration has placed upon it's citizens...

Good news. Hope INEC would be the body conducting local government elections

It was part of FG request to the supreme Court and I think it will be granted. That inec election is the best so we can know our chairmanship candidates and campaign to tell us what and what to do for the LG, not by one useless governor appointing Thier inlaws.

What is difficult in sending the account details of your local government to FG while FG will also transfer money to the account provided like it was done for state governments?

No, Rivers State is not different from many other states whose LGs are under the administration of CTC chairmen. Their monthly allocations are going to be withheld by the Federal Government. Moreover, Rivers State has already scheduled the local council elections to be held in October. Let's see how it goes.

I think the NA have amended the constitution scrapping off States' electoral bodies and them no longer vested with powers of conducting the LG election but now rather the INEC. The NA have also submitted copies of same to all the SHA to amend theirs.

Are you aware RSIEC has been instructed by Governor Fubara to conduct LG election? Are you also aware that Rivers come 2nd after Lagos in terms IGR (Meaning the governor still has a lot of funds at his disposal)? Are you aware this is the right way to go as a Nation, and that this judgement applies to all the 35 states of the federation and not just Rivers State? Truly, sense of far from some of you folks.

This post is disappointing as it undermines the autonomy of local government officials and sets a dangerous precedent for political interference in local governance. As a supporter of the FG, I stand behind the government's efforts to promote transparency and accountability at all levels of government. However, it is important to uphold the democratic process and respect the decisions of elected officials. Therefore

Once supreme Court rules that inec can now conduct lga elections in states it will all be over for state governors whose powers will be drastically reduced.

This is not about fubara but about democracy. Rivers state can easily fund those LGAs without federal allocation. The problem with this judgement is that a lot of things being handled by the state like primary school teachers salary will now start having issues again
