@ Slimszy,

Sorry about your experience but TWoods is right.

At best your response about ur your post study plans n ur background was run-of-the-mill, it won't fly with her n might not necessarily fly with another VO.

I survived that woman, she grilled me for like 15 minutes. You would think I am lieing until I start d timer n narrate the whole thing to you. Same interview everybody will say takes no more than 2-3 minutes. I wasn't funded.[/b]

Hi, thank you for your response.

But during my application, years of work experience and my portfolio is the major criteria for the admission. I have seen a number of transcript that didn't have a background in their new program, and was granted visa. I have colleagues who was granted visa too, who doesn't have a background in fine art, but currently studying in the US or have completed their program.

However, how do I scale through this? What's the best response in this case.

I disagree with what you just said, I know someone recently whose B1 visa was canceled when the F1 was denied. The VO said this to the applicant by saying do you know you can't travel to the US with your B1/B2 anymore because it has been canceled.

The incident you reported here is an exception. Normally, you can have different visas on your passport depending on when you applied for each. The most important thing is when you come in as a student, you must ensure whenever you are returning to the US you come in on the F1 visa otherwise, you have to report to your DSO where they help do the necessary to change it from B1/B2 to F1 and you usually get very strong warning for that. There are many people who have held both a F1 and B1 visas together without any issues.

I also heard some V.O’s cancel B1/B2 visas once F1 is refused while some don’t because I also know of one who didn’t have their B1/B2 canceled after the F1 was refused. So it can actually go either way.

I got denied last year and I scheduled another appointment that was approved early this year…I didn’t get a date yet though but then my I-20 expired and I had to get a new one and another DS-160. I’ve not been able to schedule appointment since then. It’s just saying there are no appointments available at this time and my resumption date is August 4, is there anything I can do…Thank you. I’m sorry I also replied under this, I don’t know how to make a post on here.
It’s been months please…I need help

Hi, Yes you can create and fill a new DS-160 form even after securing an interview date

Flixvevo:

I mean will there be any issues doing that

No, there will be no problems. Simply update your ustraveldocs (CGI) profile with the new confirmation number of the DS-160 at least 3 working days before your interview date.

Please how long do I have to wait for this?

Hello everyone. I'd like to ask a question. For example, on my international passport, NIN and BVN, the names listed are Chukwuemeka(Surname) Chisom(First Name).

On my FSLC, WAEC, JAMB, I've always maintained the same name, Chukwuemeka Chisom.

I planned to maintain the same name in Uni but I was forced in my 100 level to use my middle name Ama. On my transcript and Uni certificate, my names are Chukwuemeka Chisom Ama.

Will this be an issue when applying for masters if I end up using either Chukwuemeka Chisom or Chukwuemeka Chisom Ama?

Hey 🤠

1. You were not forced at 100 level to use your middle name " Ama' because you cannot be forced to do so.

2. You added the name yourself when you saw your mates with middle names during registration and as a happy-trigger teenager you then thought "okay let me add my own in order to feel among "

3. OR, You added middle name when filling your JAMB (UTME) and every other of your records all through 100 level to your NYSC certificate must follow same names.

4. Anyways, You do not have a choice than to keep using Chukwuemeka Chisom Ama for your Msc, Phd or future academics or jobs applications because your final Bsc, Transcripts and perhaps NYSC certificates came out on that name.

5. Its not a much trouble. Court affidavit can align your academic credential names to tallies with your NIN, BVN, Travel P, and WAEC. This scenario is common with married women.

PS: In sense 1 above. If your name is Mary Jane then no organization or institution or entity can force you to bear a middle name which you do not have. Millions of people or families does not have or use middle names.

Best Wishes 🙏

Haha, why would I lie on an anonymous forum? I intentionally maintained 2 names all my life before uni. I didn't want to go through what I've seen many others go through when it comes to issues with names.

My course adviser made sure I included my middle name before submitting documents to her in my 100 leave 1st semester. I disagreed at first but she was serious about it. It's lame to be pressured by my peers, I've never lived that life or tried to belong.

Appreciate your reply, I'll add the court affidavit to my plans.

According to your number 4, I understand that moving forward I'll have to stick with 3 names. Truly appreciate your help on here. Cheers.

I am confident your two names should be enough so long they are in the same order: first and last/surname. The US is mostly concerned with First and Last names.

Thanks for your reply and contribution. I'm also getting this message:

"Ensure that the name on your passport and other official identification matches the name you use in your application. This is particularly important for visa applications."

How important is this?

@OyoTunjiUSA @mayford, please do you have anything to say on this?

Hey 🤠

1. @Themaths is right on the morality of it but let me expound it further.

1. When applying for jobs, admissions, bank accounts etc use the names on your academic credentials that is "
Chukwuemeka Chisom Ama.

2. When applying for VISAS ie DS-160,
MRV and SEVIS fee
use the names on your Travel Passport that is " Chukwuemeka Chisom.

3. Its an understandable situation and no one will doubt you because embassies and organizations have seen more names complication errors worst than yours. The worst any doubting Thomases can do is to ask for your Court Affidavit to back it up.

4. In your scenario, your Form I-20 should come out with Chukwuemeka Chisom Ama. But when applying for VISA use Chukwuemeka Chisom because embassies only listens to your Travel Passport names.

PS: I have a female friend who answers (on academic credentials) Bala Rafiu Anifowose (a male names combination) up till now as a result of
JAMB error. Her original name was Bukky Rofiat Anifowose.

PS: However, If a situation demands for your middle name as a-must then input ' Ama.

Best Wishes 🙏

Hi @VeeInsider, the details on your passport are the most important elements at this time. Your transcript and degree certificate can still be accepted by the school. Though you bear an additional name (middle), they can still confirm that you were a student of your Alma mater and that your credentials are legit. It's understandable for omissions to happen, that's why courts are there and the notary public will help legitimise your documents with the additional name.

So for your visa, please use the details exactly as they appear in your passport for all your visa application and required processes. Your First & Last names are what they care most about, besides not everyone has a middle name.

Hi, paying another MRV for a new appointment will only delay you further as you'd have to get approval first before you can schedule an appointment and there's no guarantee you will see a favourable date.

Keep monitoring the appointment calendar for a reschedule and if possible, you can switch to either Abuja or Lagos depending on which location has the best dates before your resumption.

If it helps, you can join date search groups for updates on date availability.

Hello everyone.

Is it possible to make changes to your DS-160 application after submitting it? I have already completed all the remaining steps and gotten my interview date, but I realized I needed to correct something. If not, will creating a new one mean I have to pay the MRV fee again?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by PrimeTEA: 11:07am On Jul 12
I knew about this PART 18 late.

I got my VISA APPROVED on June 24th. Myself, Wife and 2 kids.

Thanks to everybody here that gave me one advice or the other. Shoutout to @OyotunjiUSA for his prompt answers and criticism. And also to @fearlessfang & @debieee for encouraging me to go with my 3F2s.

I'll recommend this thread to everyone who need firsthand information about F1 Visa. The information here is unquantifiable and organic.

Thanks to everyone, wishing us all the very best and successful interview.

Hello, it is not possible to make changes to the DS-160 after submitting it. You can fill a new DS-160 with the details from your previous application if you still have the old application ID. Otherwise, just fill a new one afresh and then update your CGI profile with the new confirmation number at least 3 working days before your interview date.
