Does INEC conduct LG elections?
I think it's State Electoral Commissions

The constitution has been amended and States Electoral Commissions are no longer vested with the powers of conducting LG elections.

If the federal government is serious, they will paying their allocation directly. This is great news for democracy.

It is obvious that the expedited nature of this matter is because of what is happening in Rivers state. This shows that Wike has gone far above Rivers politics.
Some times you guys talk trash, how many states in Nigeria has duly elected LG officers?

God bless Baba Tinubu for this landmark judgement. Underperforming governors will be running from pillar to post. The next thing is to dissolve all caretaker committees or risk being attested for treason. We need INEC to start conducting LGA elections since they are now autonomous. The governors will have to sponsor councilors so they can impeach the chairmen at will.

When will fg promote credible elections or they want chaos in the states?

democracy does not exist without the prerequisite of credible elections because the will of the people is not expressed at the polls.

The supreme court should be explicit on what happens to the withheld money in the nearest future.

Whether the money should be given to subsequent elected LG chairman or the money forfeited forever.

This is to avoid impeding confusion and further litigations.

The money will always be kept for the next duly elected officials.

3rd level of Government fully established !!!
The next is for Inec to take care of LG elections.
At least our streets will be fixed, our drainage will be fixed, now we can hold our grassroot politicians and leaders responsible for bad inter street roads and blocked drainage rather than waiting for he governors to remember us in our area.

Also limit candidates to only stakeholders who have business, properties or have lived up to 10 years in the LG.Participation of independent candidates is also welcome

He will not be in a hurry to conduct LGA elections.

Rivers State allocation is more than enough to fund the 27 LGAs and the remaining will still be more than many states allocations.

Fubara can fund his Caretaker chairmen from his own allocation for another 1 year, while he gets his structure right.

Rivers is not Bauchi or Kogi.. There is money.

Fubara has got enough allocation to fund his 27 LGAs for one year before he conducts elections.
