The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said its operatives were not responsible for the dead body found hanging by a tree in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

A yet-to-be-identified man said to be a tricyclist, had on Thursday reportedly committed suicide after efforts to retrieve his seized tricycle from some government agents proved abortive in the Ikorodu area.

According to Punch, an eyewitness, Prince Excel, in a video posted on WhatsApp, had said: “This is early Thursday morning, July 11, 2024, an unfortunate situation just happened right now. A man just committed suicide on the major road at the Jubilee Estate in front of the LASTMA gate on the Sagamu Road. This is quite unfortunate.”

But reacting in a statement made available to THE WHISTLER on Friday, LASTMA debunked reports that the deceased’s tricycle was impounded by officers of the agency.

LASTMA while confirming that the body of the deceased was discovered in the early hours of Thursday, explained that no one could really identify him as either an Okada or tricycle rider from amongst several operators of Okada and tricycle who visited the scene of the incident.

“The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) wishes to debunk in no equivocal terms that its operatives are not responsible for the dead body found hanging by the gate of an Estate along Lagos – Shagamu Expressway, Lagos,” a statement by the spokesperson of the agency, Adebayo Taofiq, said.

What do you expect, they will deny and if evidence is available, we will be told those involved are not real LASTMA and they have been dismissed since 1830. Why will this man take his own life, if not for renewed hopelessness. grin grin grin grin grin grin

By sabo roundabout you will see 15 lasman ,10 police officer doing nothing but waiting for a driver to arrest.

I remember giving some strangers free lift from my estate and they asked to drop at Ojota. I couldn't park at Ojota cos those Lastma faces werent smiling that day, I drove the women down to maryland brt (ignorantly) to avoid wahala not knowing that worse trouble awaited me.
Just as the women alighted, three task force vans blocked me and about 20 armed men bombarded my car like I was some terrorist.
One of them demanded for my car key and drove me all the way to Alausa, on the way, I tried explaining but it fell on deaf ears, in the end he demanded for a whooping 70k, I had to beg him before he parked the car and collected 50k cash. Just imagine I didn't have that amount with me, my car would have been impounded at Alausa and I would have been looking for more than 50k and connections to bail my car. For this kyn economy wey everybody dey face?

The other day I passed one-way coming out of "The Place" in Ogba, No Lastma was in sight but as soon as I reached the next traffic light about 1 km away, about 4 lastma guys bombarded me like some ant around a cube of sugar, unfortunatlely I had my windows down cos i was about to park at my gf's office just after the trafficlight. They opened my car and jumped in before I could say "Jack Robinson". I was in shock when they showed me a pic someone must have snapped secretly while i was driving out of "The Place". They didn't even listen to my pleas before taking me to their office at berger, I shed crocodile tears hoping it would move them after they asked me to go deposit 250k in the government acct or risk car impoundment as my penalty....I had to tell them a big sob story of lies before they accepted to collect 40k cash which about 5-8 officers would presumably share.
That's why they always demand huge money , the money is being shared into many hands. Your 50k huge loss may just be only 4k added to an unscrupulous lastma's pocket!

I blame Tinubu.

This is really cold war.

Aside this incident please be mindful of what you do and say to people this days, depression is real, there's hunger in the land.
People are just dying anyhow and also looking for who will kill them.

Nigeria is bleeding.

May God help us.
RIP... Nigeria did you dirty

Lagos gives LASTMA targets in billions to remit as fines. That makes them arrest indiscriminately just to extort money.

LASTMA should be law enforcement, not for bambiala and extortion.

Thinubu's handwork.

Na him create LASTMA. Yorubad people are very nefarious and inhumane, upon what people are passing in this Tinubu-lation they are still ceasing someone's only source of income. Tufiakwa to them.

Very heartless and tribe full of corruption, maybe na because the man no gree drop 100 naira for them na why they killed the man by ceasing his only source of income.

Any of Thinubu's creation is full of curses and pestilence.
