NothingDoMe: If local govt takes up 80% , what will state govt use their own allocations to do? They both have distinct responsibilities and each will face what concerns it. For in stance, we have state roads and we have council’s roads. They also have their staff which they need to be responsible for. |

NothingDoMe:I have to ask you since neither Section 7 nor Section 8 which define the office of Local Government, do not specify this is supposed to do like 80% of everything that needs to be done. that you claim. |

Hemanwel: Of course. It is like calling someone a thief. He'll deny it and tell you that you have nothing of value for him to be interested in stealing. Governors know they are views as crooked, a big problem and a cog in the wheel of progress by Nigerians so they will of course pretend they are relieved to concede full autonomy to local governments 3 Likes |

adams123:Once elected and sworn in, Governors will no longer have powers to remove them at will so, if an LG Chairman forms loyalty it's for a short period, once elected they'll start to Fubara the Governor. |

NothingDoMe: There is no argument, don’t create one where there is none. Local govt doesn’t need to do state’s road. State doesn’t need to do council’s road. State doesn’t need to pay council’s staff salaries. They both have their distinct responsibilities. 2 Likes |

The Local governments are just as corrupt but let's see if this is an improvement for out democracy and governance or a regression. |

patrickmuf: That was funny but it's sad. No matter how anyone looks at the war between Wike and Fubara one fact stands out and that's the fact that without Wike Fubara wouldn't have been a governor. Wike got a lot of enemies within his camp because he insisted on Fubara and you need to see how Fubara was so humble then. This life sef |

Which burden and why take your own FG to court and then operate unconstitutionality through CTCs. |
Re: LG Autonomy: Supreme Court Has Relieved Us Of A Burden – Governors Forum by Kukutenla: 9:12pm On Jul 12 |
Kobojunkie:How can a procedure defined by the Constitution be deleted by a ruling? Read between the lines. The NGF chair is telling you their burden has been relieved. What do you think he means by that? Put on your thinking caps and stop behaving like those confused, shallow youths who are allocating tears to governors just to suit their fantasies |

Hemanwel: How did you know theyre lying? your papa don do Governor before. All these children of nobodies and the way they always have NEGATIVE OPINIONS when successful people speak? The reason you and your type that are constituting nuisance on social will continue to remain A NOBODY is because you dont care to research about the success habits of successful people. Succesful people create social media, jobs and a whole lot of things. And you, A NOBODY will be there insulting them while youre using THE THINGS THEY CREATED. |

Kobojunkie:Yes, note that the state house of assembly has the oversight to prescribe functions to the local government. People screaming that they are now independent and can rebel against the State are just clowning around. |
Re: LG Autonomy: Supreme Court Has Relieved Us Of A Burden – Governors Forum by Kobojunkie: 9:31pm On Jul 12 |
Kukutenla:1. You claimed this ruling deleted the account, an idea that directly contravenes the Constitution which instead insists the account in question — the State Joint Local Government account — must be maintained by the State. (6) Each State shall maintain a special account to be called "State Joint Local Government Account" into which shall be paid all allocations to the Local Government Councils of the State from the Federation Account and from the Government of the State.2. I would rather you focus first and foremost on what the Constitution in fact says on this issue to understand how these Governors are merely trying to deceive you a lot with the same old nonsense. The only burdens I see placed on the Governors by Section 162 of the Constitution are ● Section 162(6) - Maintainance of a special account to be called "State Joint Local Government Account" into which shall be paid all allocations to the Local Government Councils of the State from the Federation Account and the Government of the State. ● Section 162(7) - Payment to Local Government Councils in its area of jurisdiction such proportion of its total revenue on such terms and in such manner as may be prescribed by the National Assembly. So, exactly which of the above "burdens" is your NGF chair telling you has been lifted off of him and his colleagues? The Supreme Court did not strike out any of the above sections, so what exactly does he mean? You would need to get that detail from him. 3. Please consider taking your very same advice here before you continue abeg! |

NothingDoMe:All the Supreme Court did here was reassert the Constitution on this issue. I don't understand why Nigerians are busy celebrating or pretending things have changed. So long as the people refuse to call their governors out and at least threaten them with impeachment, nothing will change both at the State, and Local levels even with this ruling. 2 Likes |
