They say they are not responsible for his suicide. They failed to say maybe they are responsible for seizing his motorcycle.

I remember giving some strangers free lift from my estate and they asked to drop at Ojota. I couldn't park at Ojota cos those Lastma faces werent smiling that day, I drove the women down to maryland brt (ignorantly) to avoid wahala not knowing that worse trouble awaited me.
Just as the women alighted, three task force vans blocked me and about 20 armed men bombarded my car like I was some terrorist.
One of them demanded for my car key and drove me all the way to Alausa, on the way, I tried explaining but it fell on deaf ears, in the end he demanded for a whooping 70k, I had to beg him before he parked the car and collected 50k cash. Just imagine I didn't have that amount with me, my car would have been impounded at Alausa and I would have been looking for more than 50k and connections to bail my car. For this kyn economy wey everybody dey face?

The other day I passed one-way coming out of "The Place" in Ogba, No Lastma was in sight but as soon as I reached the next traffic light about 1 km away, about 4 lastma guys bombarded me like some ant around a cube of sugar, unfortunatlely I had my windows down cos i was about to park at my gf's office just after the trafficlight. They opened my car and jumped in before I could say "Jack Robinson". I was in shock when they showed me a pic someone must have snapped secretly while i was driving out of "The Place". They didn't even listen to my pleas before taking me to their office at berger, I shed crocodile tears hoping it would move them after they asked me to go deposit 250k in the government acct or risk car impoundment as my penalty....I had to tell them a big sob story of lies before they accepted to collect 40k cash which about 5-8 officers would presumably share.
That's why they always demand huge money , the money is being shared into many hands. Your 50k huge loss may just be only 4k added to an unscrupulous lastma's pocket!
when u all are ready....we go to war

Early morning, from ikorodu garage roundabout after the police station to Sabo, you will see police checkpoints, federal road safety corps, and lastma officers all because of their personal gains.

My brother the thing is just irritating seeing that short distance filled with those number of security agencies

I got to know all those bastards do daily and weekly contributions......they are just there to extort motorists and people passing by.

You would never understand what pushed him to do that. Life is very hard for some people and they're at the breaking point, all what they need to off themselves is a little push from someone. May we not be agents of that.

You don't understand the difference between a crime and an offense, hence your usage of that word in such a careless manner. Furthermore, the fact that someone died of suicide and that was all you could think of writing shows that some of you are very callous people with no human feelings... I pray you never see such situations where government policies would affect your means of livelihood.

At least the man only killed himself alone. What of if he had opted for option of going with other people (suicide bombing).
Though both is never an option anyway.

Whats the difference between a crime and an offence?

An offence, in practical terms, is a violation of law that may be punishable by the state, but doesn't constitute a major violation which would attract a prison term, e.g. illegal parking, failure to obey traffic signs, littering.

A crime on the other hand is a deliberate act of breaking a law, usually involving causing harm to others and attracts a prison term or even life or death sentence, such acts as rape, robbery murder etc. fall into this category.

Someone who breaks a traffic law isn't a criminal but an offender, it can attract a fine, but that doesn't make the person a criminal. Okada might be legal in Ogun state, but illegal in Lagos, as such they're offenders, not criminals.

Nigerians, Lagosians in particular, will not respond to this cruelty of LASTMA officials in Lagos. They are the worst unit in the country They live fat on the sweats of the hustling motorists. They all have petrol stations, vehicles, hotels, mansions etc which are proceeds of bribery. An average LASTMA make daily contributions of up to 100k a day.

So in the case of the tricycle rider now that violate maybe because of failure to obey traffic signs or using one-way, what should be his punishment or penalty?

Of course, in many countries, such offences only attract fines... A prison term would be too extreme, unless the person committed a criminal act in the process such as killing a human being or robbing someone.
