bigtt76:it depends on the field you are talking about, I can talk on my field Engineering. Nigerians do not have a good record for Health and safety unless you work in one of the multi nationals. i think you miss the point when I say experience. When I said that I mean some companies will specifically state that they need UK experience that way your experience even from mars do not count. A carpenter from Nigeria will not have same experience as a carpenter in the Uk ,Same as an Electrician from Nigeria wont have same experience of the electrician in the US. Then move to social workers. we do not have same vices in the Uk as the ones in Nigeria. |

RalphJean: Just wondering... would the people back home think its worth the cost? £120 plus sundry costs would come upto 250k. They might very well prefer that sum being given to them than sending clothes over. Remember to some, their perception of taking clothes from someone known is different from buying okrika. 10 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Goodenoch: 11:11am On Jul 13 |
jedisco: Exactly. Send the freight money. Donate the clothes to Salvation Army or another charity here. Simple. Salvation Army even has bins around in many large towns/cities that you can simply put your clothes into without even interacting with anyone. 3 Likes |

I want to commend the Nigerian Immigration Service for a job well done. I did biometrics for my passport renewal yesterday, and the passport just arrived in post. The staff were very friendly throughout. 6 Likes |

muzzling17: I'm unsure if this has been answered but working on a banded role within the NHS (i.e being eligible for Health and care visa) exempts you from the 37.8k treshold. Your treshold is realistically based on the going rate for your band which is what your Trust would offer eitherway. The link below from NHS employers explains it well with good examples. https://www.nhsemployers.org/articles/impacts-changes-uk-immigration-policy 2 Likes |

jedisco: Good signposting. Minor correction: The bolded and the italicised are mutually exclusive in the sense that all roles in the NHS are banded, irrespective of whether they are eligible for the Health and Care visa or not. 1 Like |

rock86: I find that just a little bit interesting. 1 round costs 8 pounds here. I can only give you the facts . It ll be up to you what you decide to do. Please check the weight of food you are allowed to bring into the UK. It's available on google I paid £80 for my mothers extra luggage. It certainly wasn't amala. Wouldn't have paid that for amala. Would have binned it myself |

jedisco: Thank you very much. The very exact recommendation you made in this post was followed. I have chucked all the items in the donation point located at a big Sainsbury’s store near where we live. Guess who has N240,600 converted this afternoon via LemFi - (other apps are available)? That £120 is now in Naira. The crediting of different Naira accounts started this afternoon. The type of prayers me and my wife and children have received today, the goodwill will last a lifetime, I think. Thank you so much for that not-so-little suggestion. Turns out it’s a win-win for everyone. Thank you Jedisco. 17 Likes |

Goodenoch: Bro, are you the twin brother of Ms Kemi (the conservative MP)’s husband? Or you are simply the opposite? Thank you so much for this recommendation. You and Jedisco just helped me see clearly. The beauty of Nairaland. Thank you Goodenoch. Thank you Jesdisco. You guys rock. This is another reason for staying for this long on this thread, even after chopping ban previously for daring to call out Justwise on TV licence debate. Justwise, we may not always agree on TV licence issues, but I love you bro. Keep on the great job. This thread is a throve of information. Thanks to all people contributing positively. Cheers. 11 Likes |

The shooter at Trump's rally has just made it even more likely that Trump is going to be the next US president. And now AP is reporting that the shooter has been killed/ neutralised. Smh...you don't defeat far right rhetoric with violence- you're just playing into their hands. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(m): 6:00am On Jul 14 |
Zahra29: I have to agree with you on that, the shooter just made the whole thing even more difficult for Biden. Democrat will be blamed for his especially as the shooter was killed. All that said. I'm happy for Trump and other republicans gun loving people. Trump is having a test of situation he created, he loves and encourages violence on others while his lapdogs do the dirty job. The dude is tasting the food he cooked.
