Hi all,

I wanted to confirm something that my friend just brought to my attention.

I applied for Visitor visa for Spouse and since his passport is 10 years, I was expecting them to give him 10 years and 5 years each for our two kids.

But we were all given 2 years which is the duration of the two year Diploma program.


Is it normal? Or there is an error that we need to contact IRCC about

It's not about people rushing it's about reality of the law many people are today in Canada stranded but rushed because people were rushing with visiting visa and believed they can convert it,today canada immigration law is reality and that's what I just pointed out to avoid what I was told VS what is reality
like I said If you have any place where the immigration law guarantees that kindly show me so I can pass it on

Don't misquote me. I stated that the validity of both biometrics and passports must be ten years.

Please no need to argue about visa duration or validity .90% of people on this forum fasting and praying applying Canada visiting visa and reapplying just want use to visit visa to japa even if na 5 days visa..majority full this section last year even insulting me about lmia but many don land Canada learning the hard way!

I hope you are aware that having a 2,3 or 10-year visit visa does not mean you can stay in Canada for 2,3 or 10 years as a tourist. The maximum stay at any given time is 6 months or less, depending on what the border officer decides. An extension for another 6 months is possible, but it is not automatic and may diminish your chances of returning to Canada in the future.

Omooo. Is it not better I go do a new passport like this ? Because my current one expires in 3 years time and that means they will give me 3 years visa

Your application is still within processing timeframe.

Presently, applications submitted in Nigeria take about 191 days to process. If, by the end of next month, you have not heard from them, you can get in touch with IRCC.

In any case, a lot of individuals are applying for travel permits this summer, which will cause delays in the processing of visas.

It's completely normal. Their visitor visas are tied to the duration of your diploma program, which is why they were issued for two years. Your child will get a visitor record when they arrive in Canada that will enable them to stay beyond six months and attend school. However, your spouse cannot work or stay and will have to depart Canada since you are not a master's or PhD student.
