A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a woman, Omolola Kayode, for trafficking in marijuana.

Kayode, 30, was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before Justice Mohammed Kala on a count charge of drug trafficking.

She pleaded guilty.

Following her guilty plea, the court reviewed the facts of the case, with NDLEA counsel, Mr P. O. Ajoku, calling a staff of NDLEA, Mr Aliyu Mohammed Ogah, to present evidence.

When asked by the judge to confirm or deny the evidence as adduced by prosecution, the defendant confirmed the facts.

The judge consequently found her guilty as charged.

Her counsel, Chief Lilian Omotunde, prayed the court to tamper justice with mercy.

She told the court that the defendant was a first-time offender and a single parent with two children.

Omotunde added that the defendant did not waste the time of the court.

Kala sentenced the defendant to one year imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine.

He added that the convict would carry out one month community service.

In the charge, the NDLEA accused Kayode of committing the offence on May 21 at the Carnal area of Festac Town, Lagos State.

It said that the convict and one other person known as “commander”, now at large, illegally dealt in 259g of Marijuana.

The offence contravenes Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, 2004

This one went to traffic drugs, his brother's are at home dissecting the body parts of their dead and buried parents all for quest of wealth.

What these people cannot do does not exist.

I'm glad Jagaban is the rider on horse, he keep whipping his own people with horse whip each and every moment.

This is just the beginning.

Well, the court really tempered Justice with Mercy. Lol.

Let's hope the woman will learn her lesson and turn a new leave.

Good that they gave option of fine and a reasonable one, as against their usual erection they get whenever they see ordinary people stand trial before them...wherein they lash out disproportionate heavy penalty

I see that the igbotic mod pushed your topic to FP after sanitising your headline.

Don't complain when you see your blodas and sisters making FP for the wrong reasons as usual.

Chai! So this guy is probably Yoruba Muslim.

I really sorry for him.
He doesn't know , or refuses to see the truth before him like MURIC...that the fulanis do not consider him a full-breed Muslim.
Subsequently, the white Arabs consider Black Africans ( including Fulanis) to be beneath them ( though in the outside , they will smile slyly like the Jews and English, and call them brothers, but they hate them).

Do you know what the low-wretched Palestinians call their supposedly Black Muslims brothers?
Abeed= slave.

AntiChristian, I offered you a way out.
I'm not against Islam, because there is truth in Islam.
There is also truth in Christianity.
And there are abundants of truth in Iṣẹ̀ṣē.

Instead of carrying religion for head, why don't we have the mentality of:
- Christian black liberation
- Islamic Black Liberation
- Traditional religion Black liberation

Religion is a personal thing.
Truth is: NO RELIGION IS PERFECT: they all have flaws one way or another, but that doesn't mean we should throw away religion, but seek to understand other religions as well, and be tolerant , as long as it's not against the natural moral laws.
