You are so uncultured and dense, we are talking about Wole Soyinka and you feel the most intelligent thing to do is to bring someone's parents into the discussion all because you want to dodge responsibility.

Try and be sensible.
now you know it's wole Soyinka... D same wole Soyinka so many of you insulted on his birthday? On a serious note why ask ask a 90 yrs old man to protest because he called someone gbajue?

Oga the OP didn't say Soyinka should come out and protest, stop lying here or maybe you have a poor deductive reasoning. Soyinka himself said he will assess Tinubu's regime after one year. The OP is simply making a reminder that it is more than a year and Soyinka has not said anything or made an assessment of Tinubu's regime.

Why on earth did you assume protest in this statement, how did you manage to pass Jamb?
Go and read d post again :He promised to assess Tinubu's government after one year.

This is a man that protested against GEJ for trying to remove fuel subsidy and selling fuel @ #140 per liter. He claimed that fuel subsidy doesn't exist then.

Today Tinubu has removed the same non-existent fuel subsidy and fuel is sold at #1000 per liter yet Soyinka has lost his voice.

TELL SOYINKA THAT THE BEST TIME TO PROTEST IS NOW

A cultist have no honor in a sane nation.

Forget the half baked Noble prize he sabotaged Africans to go and collect when all Africans agreed not to accept Nobel prize as a form of African continent protest against the Nobel Prize committee racism. Typical double-face Ronu grandpa shocked
I originally didn't want to make a post on this thread topic but I have to step in for posterity sake.

What you wrote up there is a complete FALSEHOOD! It shows that you and others are CLEARLY pushing the same very dangerous FABRICATION of history and LIES that have already been thrashed out and debunked on an NL Frontpage post made by a dishonest Ibo supporter of Peter Obi here on NL in April 2023.

As a man who was alive and fully aware of events in 1986 when Professor Wole Soyinka became the FIRST African to win the Nobel Prize (1986 was the same year the iconic British-Nigerian, Folasade Adu, CBE, OR 'Sade Adu became the FIRST Nigerian-born person to win a Grammy Award. She was born in Ibadan to an Ikere-Ekiti Economics Professor father and a White English nurse as a mother), NO group of African writers EVER agreed to boycott the Nobel Prize. Therefore there was NO betrayal OR sabotage of ANYBODY on the part of Prof. Soyinka like you have FALSELY claimed here!

1] Abdulrazak Gurnah who won a Nobel Prize in 2021 (after Wole Soyinka had won it in 1986) NEVER made the FALSE statement being credited to him and being pushed online claiming the Nobel Prize wasn't special or condemned Soyinka as alleged by ethnic bigots. Since 1901 when it was first awarded, ONLY 6 Africans or Africa-born international writers in total have won the Nobel Prize which the iconic Prof. Wole Soyinka FIRST won! The 6 African writers that have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature since it was FIRST awarded in 1901 are: Wole Soyinka (1986), Naguib Mahfouz (1988), Nadine Gordimer (1991), J.M. Coetzee (2003), Doris Lessing (2007), Abdulrazak Gurnah (2021).

2] The great Kenyan writer, Ngugi wa Thiong'O (who the highly irresponsible young people peddling this FAKE story about Ngugi wa Thiong'O being one of those who are against Soyinka for accepting the 1986) said the words right BELOW about Prof. Wole Soyinka on his 80th birthday in the book entitled "Essays In Honor of Wole Soyinka at 80":

“A writer and public intellectual, who has voiced his concerns over major happenings in different parts of the continent over the last fifty years and more, Soyinka has become the moral and democratic conscience of Africa.”
https://www.ayebia.co.uk/product/essays-in-honour-of-wole-soyinka-at-80/

3] https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/literature/1986/summary/
Excerpts from the 1986 Nobel Prize Press Release/Citation on Prof. Oluwole Soyinka
The collection of poems A Shuttle in the Crypt shows real moral stature. The poems were written during the writer’s two years in prison, to which he was sent because of his attitude in his country’s civil war. They are poems about mental survival, human contact, anger and forgiveness. The same experiences lie behind his prose work The Man Died: Prison Notes, which in itself is a literary work of the first rank.

Linguistically too Soyinka stands out as excellent. He possesses a prolific store of words and expressions which he exploits to the full in witty dialogue, in satire and grotesquery, in quiet poetry and essays of sparkling vitality.

Wole Soyinka’s writing is full of life and urgency. For all its complexity it is at the same time energetically coherent.

"LEGITIMATE UNIVERSITY FRATERNITY"
Second, the younger 'Wole Soyinka and a few of his University friends making a total of 7 of them created a fraternity that was LEGITIMATE and well-known to the University authorities in Ibadan. [b]Fraternities are legitimate organizations on most University campuses worldwide and many U.S. Presidents (such as the 3 Yale University grads like George H.W. Bush and his son George W. Bush jr), including world leaders of today and yesteryear were college or Uni fraternity members. Some popular Fraternities such as Yale University's Skull and Bones, Yale University's Delta Kappa Epsilon, Alpha Phi Alpha, Beta Theta Pi, Kappa Sigma, are very popular. The Pirates Fraternity (National Association of Seadogs) that Prof. Wole Soyinka co-founded with 6 others as youths at the elite University College, Ibadan, then part of the University of London in 1952 is completely different from the vicious, criminal campus gangs that arise from the 1980s which YOU and your fellow Ibos and some others WRONGLY call "campus cultists" here on this thread and other online platforms just to FALSELY accuse Wole Soyinka of being the founder!

As a personal witness to some events that happened within the Uni environment back in the early 1980s, the campus gang menace started gaining momentum in the later part of the early 1980s and blasted off right with vicious violence from the military era of Ibrahim Babangida started in 1985. Prior to that, these gangs saw how the LEGITIMATE Pirates Fraternity (National Association of Seadogs) was well organized and respected by the students and Uni authorities, so, these deviant students copied some elements of the structure of the respected campus fraternities so as to cover up their tracks, but in actual sense, these were just criminal campus gangs (just like you have neighborhood gangs). This is how the campus gangs (otherwise called pseudo-fraternities) were formed. Professor Wole Soyinka had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the creation of these criminal campus gangs OR "pseudo-fraternities," so, it's absolutely absurd disrespectful to history for you and the mainly younger Ibos here on this thread to continue to FALSELY accuse Prof. Soyinka of being the founder of "cultism." Soyinka's Pirates Fraternity was a well-known, legitimate and RESPECTED group on the University College campus back in Ibadan in the 1950s and had NOTHING to do with criminal gang violence like you people are peddling here.

Last but NOT least, that "man-boy" called David Hundeyin who was born in the early 1990s was EXPELLED with another student accomplice of his for academic and financial fraud from Oxford University in England in early 2023! He too posted a FAKE X post (coincidentally in early 2023 around the time he was EXPELLED by Oxford University) repeating this same worn-out and insane lies of African writers' alleged boycott of the Nobel Prize with the FALSE narrative of Wole Soyinka allegedly betraying them by collecting the 1986 Nobel Prize [1986 was before MANY of those shamelessly peddling this same FAKE STORY online and offline were born].

You people have to remember that everything in this world is based on the laws of cause-and-effect where you will REAP the consequences of your actions in your current life and NO amount of prayers or prodding a God later for "forgiveness" will save you from the effects. Many are living a dissatisfied life today and do NOT realize that their ethnic bigotry, hate speeches, evil intentions, words, and actions are behind their current bad status OR distressing personal, financial, and social situations. They will learn the hard way.

You are still towing on the path of selective method of judgement. When you talk of raining insults, the three major tribes in Nigeria have erred in that regard including you in particular.

It's important you understand one thing about Obidientship, it's not an Igbo movement, rather a movement for all Nigerians who are tired of leadership failure over the years in our beloved country. In case you want to argue, you can ask Pa Adebanjo, Olusegun Obasanjo and many other prominent Yorubas within and outside Nigeria what Obedientiship constitutes.

You and I know too well that if APC had produced the likes Prof. Osibanjo or other sound products from Yoruba land, maybe Obedient movement wouldn't have gone too far. The hardship Tinubu brought in the land was well predicted and that was why sound-minded and detrabalized Nigerians kicked against his candidacy not because of tribe. Please let's put issues in the right context. This is nothing but the common truth. In this country, the masses love themselves. In my own family I can't count how many of my brothers whose wives are Yorubas including myself.

How can a country with over 230 million population, endowed with so many smart thinkers and intellectuals, and it's character like Tinubu that emerged as president? You know that something is definitely wrong with our system. This is almost like an abomination.

Let's see things beyond our regional boundaries...

Osinbanjo was finished when he failed to question Buhari's corrupt tradermoni policies. APC was done after 8 years of the Buhari government with no evidence of economic progress except a large debt and high level of regional insecurity.

Osinbanjo was instrumental in the trader Moni debacle and was the leader of the FEC. APC was designed to steal, and it doesn't matter who led the party; the result will be the same as it is today.

Obedient is an Igbo-led movement whose results are based on empowering Peter Obi's presidential ambitions as an Igbo president. The behaviour of the Obidients across social media is disgusting and PO's past conduct as former VP to Atiku and chairman of one of Abacha task force. Leaves me to question his political judgment.

I would rather Nigeria return to its regional political boundary to a bottom-to-top political system and let's have some regional autonomy that will ensure each region is responsible for the economic and political development; the almighty presidential system has been a complete and utter failure and designed by the Nigeria military to keep Nigeria united by any means necessary at the expense of economic development and social mobility.

Until you all stop this culture of recycling mediocrity, this party these scammers keep having at the expense of the entire nation will never end. undecided

So, after all that is said and done, all you can think of doing is thinking to recycle the same politicians who have by their conduct revealed they are not to be relied upon nor do they have what it takes to do for the Nigerian people what is necessary. Why should the names of Obasanjo, Obi, Osinbanjo, Adebanjo, Adeboye, etc, still get mentioned in this country abeg! . undecided
