My mom use to buy it in bulk when coming back from the village.
She'd cook efo-riro with it and I would painstakingly remove them all and throw away before eating the vegetables.
One day, I mistakenly crunch one still left in the efo... Oh my gosh! it taste so yummy and delicious!
Since then, I can't seem to have enough of it.
it's a pity I don't know where to find it in Lagos market.
I have search too but no luck

Definitely not all parts of Yoruba, even those two states you mentioned, I've lived in their capitals and I have never come across anyone eating this thing
@YoungBlackRico,

I appreciate your insightful feedback here. It confounded me as well that such a cuisine exists among a few Yoruba individuals or communities (but it seems from some posts here that some older folks in the rural communities from back in the day ate that caterpillar dish as can be deduced from the posts of two different NL posters here who gave credit to their grandmothers for cooking the caterpillar-based soup which they both said tasted good). More insightful is that folks in the Middle Belt, South of South and South Eastern states also eat this caterpillar delicacy.

They even individually gave multiple Yoruba names (up to 3) on this thread for this butterfly larvae (caterpillar) delicacy. As an OG who likes to sample cuisines from a variety of cultures while traveling internationally, It's interesting to discover that more food varieties exist in multiple regional locations in Nigeria and indeed around the world.

All the best.

Yes, I noticed that from the thread too. Anyway, that's just from my own observation/experience.

It's called mopping worm, not cartapilar. And it's very nutritious too.
