It's a Federal Agency vested with the powers to conduct the LGEs in the 774 LGAs.

You need to find a copy of the amended constitution for LG autonomy.

They can add National to the body National Local Government Independent Electoral Commission, which would be created from the national Inec. In such a case, PO from Katstina can be the election manager for the LG election in Ibadan. State Inec can conduct the election but supervised by national PO

Senate and house of rep are in sync with President's whims and caprices hence, expect policies that are rational and irrational.

f**l. When you're ignorant you start off by asking questions. INEC is funded by consolidated revenue. That's why it's called independent. Federal agency conducting LG election means that local government is no longer autonomous but an appendage of the FG.

I even thought SIECs will be scrapped while INEC will be empowered to hold LG elections.

I think they could see that the state electoral commission is easily manipulated and used by the state governors. There is a need for an independent electoral commission that is not answerable to the governors to handle the election matters in the local government.

But INEC can do the job instead of wasting tax payers money creating and maintaining another commission. It's just for them to have offices in each local government to handle election matters there

Why establish another agency? Why not make it INEC's responsibilities? Or an Arm of INEC?

I agree it shouldn't be the governors controlled Electoral commissions, but there's no need creating more agencies of government at this time, what else does INEC have to do after the Federal and state elections? Why not Add the LG to INEC?
