i am curious to know the percentage increase on salaries henceforth especially of fed government workers. as the new minimum wage of #70000 has been approved by the fed. the old minimum wage was #30000, that is automatically 135percent increased.
does that systematically and mathematically means i.e, if your current salary is #100,000. you will now be earning #235,000, is that how it going to be?

No! If you have the old template, you will see the percentage used to calculate the allowances based on the Basic salary (minimum wage)

So you can work it yourself

That amount is the "basic salary". Other allowances will be calculated based on that and added.
Those on SGL 01Step 1, may earned something close to N100,000

It doesn't work that way bro.

There will be a consequential adjustment.
The Salary may be just 30% increase

Exactly. I noticed this when minimum wage was increased to 30k. A friend of mine who works in a Federal Hospital told me that the increment on his salary was less than 30%.

I believe they have a template they use in making the necessary adjustments.

Good one but I foresee more economic hardship, the hardship is what we suppose to fight against.
LABOUR can't fight for that but the masses when the mass of suffering on them get to the peak by opening our brains and sight

The lowest level will enjoy the new minimum wage most. Others will get consequential adjustment. Some higher level will get about 25% increment while others may get less.

Nothing like increase if you are already earning more than 70k.

The minimum is 70k, no employer is mandated to increase your salary if you are already earning above that.

Any increase would be at your employer’s discretion

Seems most people really don't get what minimum wage means

Some people claim they are already paying their staff 100k 2 years ago, question is are you paying each and every of your cleaner, driver, gardener, support staff over 100k 2 years ago? Minimum wage is not for your core staff

With this minimum wage new graduate will start on level 8, which will be above 150k, while principal and top goons goes home with over 500k

Even school cert holders start from level 4 which is around 100k, almost no one will earn 70k

But most illetrate on nairaland think minimum wage is what you pay a fresh graduate or an experienced staff

No matter what Nigerians are paid at this trying times, it will not be enough.
The new accepted minimum wage can't still buy a bag of rice that will feed a family of four for three months.
Pre APC regime when it was 30k under the corrupt PDP, you could buy at least three bags of rice conveniently and have change for tomatoes.
