According to dangote group, the ioc will not sell crude directly to them, instead they referred the company to their trading arm making price to be unnecessary higher in addition to the allegation that they will also add some premium including a $5 on every barrel of crude sold as NNPC premium.
If that is the standard practice, then Dangote refinery needs to comply. Maybe he is seeking the same concessions he's enjoyed in all his other businesses. I am sure the shareholders of company like Seplat will not be confortable to let go the $5/barrel.

Okomu is stepping up to reclaim its position ahead of Presco. Offers have dried up, we are on a full-bid regime!

As far as longterm growth and valuation is concerned, Presco don leave Okomu for tarmac.
Even Okomu's CEO said it. They don't have any expansion plans.

Presco na boss now. Dem no be mate.

Both are quaility businesses by the way.

I am really interested in this Ibeto story because it's always quoted by people against Dangote, in addition to his perceived monopoly. If the government decided to ban cement importation in favor of locally produced cement, and Dangote happened to be the largest producer (he was not the only producer at the time), how is this unfair? I don't know how people think sometimes. We are here crying over hyperinflation and high cost of things, but at the same time, we want to be importing everything. We are not serious yet.

If it's true that the sulfur concentration is high, it can be desulfurized. A multibillion-dollar refinery must have a desulfurization process; it will take going through the process a couple of times. I think it is more of a cabal trying to fight back. The funny thing is that petrol is in high demand, and if Nigeria doesn't want Dangote's petrol, he can easily sell it elsewhere.

No complain when that happens. undecided angry

No problem, we'll still enjoy the ride. Okomu will continue the trend until Monday. That would be at least a 20% run in two days.

I am an industrialist. I am active in the construction and oil/gas industry so I have an idea of what is going on.
I can also understand the various perspectives of some responses so far BUT we need to ask ourselves some pertinent questions:

1. Are we okay with importation of refined petroleum products?
2. Are we okay with the impact #1 has on our economy?
3. Let me paraphrase #2: are we AWARE of the impact?
4. Do we know the damage subsidy is doing to our economy?
5. Lastly, if NUPRC says DANGREFINERY is not licensed, how come they are selling diesel in the Nigerian market?

I once stated on this platform that Aliko has friends on both sides so I am keen to see the outcome of this whole drama... wink

You dey mind the criminals in this government. I can tell you that 50% of fuel and gas sold in ss and se are from the ones refined in the creeks. And what is the quality. They are stealing us blind by fixing bloated imported figure. Why is nnpc the only one importing. IF they have problem with the one from dangota refinery. They should make government refinery produce the quality one they claim. Why are they canvassing for imported products as substitute. You see that nnpc boss is a big criminal and that is why townhall is keeping him. They have alot in common

That was a reckless statement from someone in authority. Even if it is true, demarketing dangote product at this point is not the way to go.
I am tempted to believe that a lot of people are actually working against the actualisation of local refining of petroleum in the country for selfish interest.

I’ll just drop this here cause sometimes we’re too emotional as Nigerians. This same Dangote:

There is no doubt some disgruntled elements are benefiting from fuel importation, subsidy and all that. I'm sure the refinery must have done cost benefits of high sulphur crude importation and low to non sulphur available in Nigeria. As a private firm, the company needs to comply with international practices. We often, allow emotions to becloud our judgement at times. Govt should make all local refineries working effectively & allow people to purchase the quality suitable to power their cars, equipments etc. That is what is obtainable every-where in the world; not to provide concession to individual to keep all the monies.

I skipped 1-4 considering i can't speak for the whole country. I am also not a spokesperson for Dangote cement.

As for number 5. I will only speak on the misrepresentation of fact the NMDPR official ought to be fired for the misrepresentation of facts . If you state a refinery is at 45% capacity and no license in one breath, he knew what he was doing. By sheer reasoning / deduction, refinery full utilisation takes months ~ 6- 18 months (depend on country and regulatory bodies).

The reason for such high level of impurity may be due to some sections of the distillation process not working (by omission or commission). One thing we can attest to is that Dangote group can be shrewd af when it comes to his competitors, but will never short change on quality except for payments as alluded by BUA group in his early days grin grin grin grin

If the allegation of suspending importation of AGO and the like was requested to favour the refinery at the detriment of the country is true, that is a d*ck head move by the dangote group.

Thank you for recalling this 'write-up'.

It's common knowledge that every business person (especially in Nigeria) is shrewd in their unique way(s) and are constantly seeking ways to enrich themselves.

Anyways let's stop assuming/presuming/speculating and wait for the official/unofficial statement from Dangote Industries... wink

it's hard to take people tweeting about IBETO seriously when it is clear it was a re-bagging factory. On the long run the government of the day will favour an industry builder to ensure it's backward integration policy is seen through and give necessary support to such vs an importer. That is how behemoth industries begin and bolster.

I have been following this group since 2020, when I started my NYSC. What I appreciate most about this platform is how everyone contributes and explains their investment views, sharing stock picks using both privileged and publicly available information without promoting any particular service. For the growth of this platform, I believe and humbly suggest we continue in this manner.

This platform is a free resource for all. I have great respect for Boss OGG, given his impressive and cautious stock picks and analysis of fundamentally strong companies. His insights, along with recommendations from notable members like Madam MCY, Chief Megawealth, Sir Agbalowomeri, and others, have guided me in my journey on the NGX, where all my trades have been profitable. This platform must remain as it has always been—providing everyone free access to the best information about companies and shares on the NGX.

Boss OGG can discuss his impressive stock pitches without mentioning the gains of his premium subscribers or friends at every opportunity. Such posts can come across as tactics to sell his products, which is not what this platform is about. If someone had posted similar content a few years ago, this platform might not have evolved to its current state; it could have fractured into chaos.

To rid this platform of future promotional posts — from him and others who are attempting to do so — I humbly request that Boss OGG continue to share his non-promotional investment views here as he has always done.

Posts promoting the success and quality of his stock picks available only to premium subscribers should be kept off this platform and shared on his personal social media profiles or through other means, such as paid ads on Nairametrics, Punch, and BusinessDay, he could also engage Twitter and TikTok influencers.

These are my views alone. Big respect to Boss OGG. This platform is a free resource for all.

Quite a mature, responsible and reasonable way to engage.

If I'll ever consider that part in italics, it'll be because of folks like this and close pals (including some esteemed members here) who've also suggested similar line in the past, and NEVER because of some bashful no-good-attention-seekers with foot-in-the-mouth-syndrome who have decided to only "think, eat, sleep and dream Onegentleguy". grin grin grin

As some of my pals will say; they will continue to make Onegentleguy even more popular!

I do not have the luxury of time for unfruitful engagements. ...not even a tiny bit of it!
The goal remains the same; grow, continue to grow and help as many as possible to do the same.

Thanks @ dpacifi
But pls am not a Boss oo. (I noticed you mentioned it no fewer than 4 times in your post and I was starting to feel a bit uneasy and shy)
Na minimum wage earner I be oo. Infact, am hoping the govt can kick-start in earnest the newly approved 70k wage so I can take care of some basic needs. wink cheesy cool

I am expecting Oando to drop further.
Reason: In recent times, there seems to be some forces that pull back the price so they can mop up as much as possible.
I also want to buy, so the lesser it gets (in the shortest time), the better for bargain hunters like me.

Why didn't ibeto start his own cement production in the country when importation was banned according to some people?
How many private companies got licence for refinery in the country even before dangote? Where are the refineries or is it that dangote also stop their refineries from working?

Don't mind them. Even those that cam not create just one job are hating him. They have no idea what it takes. He has also suffered failure in many businesses, nobody will talk about that. Only that government favours him. And so what
Some people stills more than amount needed for a refinery, how many people benefited from that?

Nothing cam please Nigerians. Imagine we removed Dangote from Nigerian economy today, where are we going to be? When you remove army and police, Dangote is the highest employer of labour in Nigeria; higher than the clueless government we have.

Another sentiment is that "cement is cheaper in other countries he export to".
That is economics and business. At the end it pays Nigeria, because the job is with us. Only the market is with them. The same way Samsung is cheaper here than in Korea, etc.
I have ordered and equipment from Germany before. I initially thought I could carry it along. Bust doing the calculation, it is cheaper to deliver to Nigeria, than a German address.

When you export, you are "good", when you import, "you bring in some sort of poverty". Why do we think Trump is wanting all American industries back on their soil?

Still gamble

A Big Gamble, no matter how some people hate hearing reality check that help some other people err on the side of caution.

Oando remains a gamble because the cloud of Delisting still hovers over it.
All that Court did was to order the cowboy to go and reach accord with the minorities.

This is victory for shareholders because it strengthens their negotiating hand against the cowboyz. For one, #7.07 delisting is dead and buried because accord cannot be reached on that term.
But, on the bad side for shareholders, the rigging of shareholder votes is the easiest thing in the world..

So, all eyes now on Wale's Desk for his response to the Court outcome.

* If he announces an immediate shareholders meeting venued at the edge of Sambisa Forest or at Yankari Game Resort or on Gembu Plateau Resort overlooking Cameroun, in Gongola State, then he will get his ratification for delisting.

*But if there is a Press Release declaring
that Shareholders Meeting is no longer necessary because
Delisting is no longer on the table, then the Oando stock Bus will turn to a Rocket and soar over #100, other things being equal.

In the absence of this renunciation of delisting, even the Deal Signing Event somebody is smelling above will not produce more than a 2 days bull.
