The President of the Dangote Group has called on the House of Representatives to investigate the quality of diesel and petrol at filling stations.

Dangote made the call on Saturday when he received the leadership of the House led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and his deputy Benjamin Kalu.

To carry out the investigation, he urged the House to set up a committee to test products at various filling stations across the country.

Decrying the damage being done to vehicles and engines by substandard products, also called on the House to investigate the quality of laboratories being used to test imported products and compare that with the one at the Dangote Refinery.


He informed the lawmakers, who had earlier toured the refinery, that he was also open to independent testing of his refinery’s products as that would only attest to their quality while exposing the problem with some of the products being sold by other players in the sector.

The management of Dangote Refinery has complained in recent months about what they say is an attempt by international oil companies (IOCs) to sabotage the refinery. It has also decried what it says is the importation of substandard products.

In turn, the refinery has been accused of essentially pushing for a monopoly.

Dangote, however, dismissed the monopoly claims insisting that the Dangote Group did not receive any special incentive when the refinery was being built.


He also said there was no effort to prevent other players from operating..

The cabals will find all ways to continue been in business.
The oil sector needs to be well regulated.
DPR should be alert to it's responsibilities.
We have no business importing duel when Dangote refinery starts working.

Though I don't support monopoly but oil marketers are ripping Nigerians.

Before Dangote started selling diesel, they were selling diesel as high as #1800 per liter claiming dollar is high and scarce, it was Dangote who crashed the price to what it is now... I wander why the importers are no more selling their diesel 1700 per liter even though dollar is still high and scarce

It's just unfortunate why the cabals wants to sabotage this huge refinery.

People are talking about monopoly when the fact is that this govt just wants to frustrate Dangote because he didn't support Tinubu's election.

During this visit yesterday, I reliably gathered that diesel samples from Matrix and Total were tested in the lab,, and produced 1860 and 2861 ppm sulphur respectively, compared to Dangote's 87ppm. Even samples from the MHC which started operations later in the afternoon yesterday gave 35ppm sulphur. We all know the obvious. No wonder Dangote said oil cabals are worse than cocaine cabals

All dangote want is monopoly of the PMS sector but how far with the cement monopoly he and few people have?

This wicked selfish monster that wants all to himself .... sell ur product to marketers at 200 naira , and no one would wanna buy the ones available in filling stations presently ....this fools just wants to monopolise the market and set the cost accordingly to his greed ... if he gets his way , I am very sure this selfish greedy man will be selling pms to markers for 800 naira
