Was it an image of something on earth? If yes, why would a God who already gave an instruction that no image should be made contradict himself by instructing moses to make the image of a snake? Answer the question first before we talk of the worship part.

I see some folks calling the priest an idol worshipper, many people make images and symbols as a token of their devotion and faith in worship, the image of snake by mosses signifies a token of the saviour hanged on a tree,if you looked upon it for your salvation, some people that mock the priest has pictures of their pastors in their Gates and buy bangles as a token of their devotion,I prefer to follow the example of the Saviour Jesus Christ and strive to do good always, Shalom

The use of image to depicts Jesus will always be controversial in Christendom,but I it's shud be worthy of note that the drawing of the image of Jesus brought about fine arts, and the church buildings brought about civilization of architecture.

Technological civilization and Christianity go hand in hand. No Christianity not technology. The first universities in the world were founded by Catholic church schools. E.g Oxford University and Bologna University.

Mentioning earliest institutions of learning and Oxford is what came to your mind?
A lot of earliest monasteries that dated back to the first 500 years after Christ and morphed into universities later on had nothing to do with the Catholic Church.
The church of England from the onset, didn't have much relation with the church of Rome. Their doctrines are different.
And yea, Catholic Church fought tooth and nails to suppress knowledge, so I understand how you're giving them the credits for what other founding fathers did.

You are not to set an image aside as an object of worship, attributing to it the glory that is due to God. Mistakes Israelitès repeatedly made in the wilderness is that they often abandoned the true God, they set up idols and then tell themselves: this is the god that freed us from slavery in the land of Egypt.

Ok....can images be used alongside worship of God? For example, praying through an image to God.

Good point! images, not the issue, the issue is how you treat those images.

Pentecostal Christians easily jump at Catholics and call them idolaters. These same people have pictures of their Daddy GOs round their necks, have fliers of yesteryears on their front doors for protection against evil forces. What about pieces of clothing the call mantle? Aprons, nko? Abi we never see these things. They claim that with these items, no harm can befall them. A classic case of hypocrisy completely shrouded in ignorance brought about my countless hours of brainwashing sessions called weekly church programmes.

Images that remind one of God's holiness is idolatry, but those that propagate the mortality of a fellow men/women is divine instruction from Daddy and Mummy G.O! You hang another man picture for protection, this same man goes about with fully-armed security personnel in bulletproof driven vehicles.

It's only that knows his true worshippers. Let's live and let live!

Pictures are actually an image, I agree with him. The intent of the command is worshipping an image. If the instruction is simply "do not make an image" then the whole world is guilty because we all snap pictures, 3D images, print posters and watch televisions. These are all images.

His example is also apt, why did God tell Moses to mould a snake, which Jesus himself referenced as an example of how He will be lifted up for all men to believe? Will Jesus reference idolatry as himself?
