I don't trust anything Tinubu touches, the guy's wife said they don't need Nigeria's money that they are already rich, yet, he's busy taxing everyone and borrowing money everywhere with nothing to show for it, only to fly around and waste the money on buying yatch, jet, criminally-minded intended projects that don't offer any good to ordinary Nigerians on the street. And now, he wants to lay hostage to people's money in their dormant accounts with false intent. Emefiele and his corrupt Boss used this means to scam Nigerians using MBA Forex, and pretended not knowing anything about the capital investment scheme that robbed Nigerians over 250bn. Now, they're trying to close the case like it never existed. Nigeria is a crime scene, and Nigerian politicians are fantastically corrupt. |

FreeStuffsNG:IT'S YOUR MONEY AND CBN DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO IT EVEN WHEN THE ACCOUNT IS DORMANT. SOME PEOPLE DELIBERATELY USE THEIR DORMANT ACCOUNT TO SAVE MONEY. THIS MOVE BY CBN WILL AFFECT THE PEOPLE'S TRUST ON BANKS AND THEY WILL STOP PUTTING MONEY IN BANKS |

Cmanforall:Go and reactivate your dormant bank account if you have any. If you don't have, don't bother yourself, just tell those around you who have dormant account to go reactivate it. There's no orphan in accounting so CBN is in order. DUNDEEmoderatos:Just ask your bank account officer. It's not really a big deal especially if the person has done biometrics and has a valid NIN and utility bill. It's not a complex process so those making a fuss over it are either not clear or have other issues. Some of the dormant accounts are actually suspected of illicit inflows and the real owners are scared of coming out to claim the funds. |

FreeStuffsNG:Bros it is not that easy as you think. I am not in Nigeria and I have done all the necessary things. Moving the account is suspicious na Naija! CBN just want to have share of the money in those accounts especially the ones with illicit flow. Moving the account makes no difference CBN already have all the account details with them. |

nedekid: I am replying you because you seem to be more reasonable than others that hi for personal attacks. I understand your concerns. This is a trust issues. Maybe the law around it can be strengthened by putting a fine of large amount on govt if they fail to produce the money in say, 21 days. That is the function of National Assembly. It should be such that it can be litigated by a court. These money are already being used for business by banks. You saw an Otedola accused Jim Ovia of zenith bank of using his dormant money for business. All of these interest enrich these bankers without paying tax on it or returning any to original owners. Many of the money are not even known to exist. They will never be collected! And banks don’t bother to maintain a register of owners. For example, I have dividends I will never collect. Because the money was less than N100. It is nothing to me. But 10m people with N100 is 1 Billion naira. 3 Likes 1 Share |

If you suspect your family member has an account in a bank and the bank won’t tell you, go to the probate registrar in the court and get a beneficiary’s letter and a court order for the banks to disclose your deceased’s account details, balances and interests accrued 2 Likes |

CBN needs dormant account money to utilize for profitability. Yank that off the banks then they loose a little weight in Capital Might be good as this sunction force may cause banks to sit tight and reduce the number of the undead accounts and pursue actual funding which in turn ‘may’ reduce the excessive money in circulation, deflating inflation Might be questionable as the CBN is directly holding customers’ money and doing government business with it. So it means if customers don’t claim their money or use accounts for any reasons at all going forward, it becomes Government property This Government is basically raising funds from any and everywhere with scientific creativity Taxes , Levies , Decrees …and much more to come |

So Tinubu is just going to steal people money just like that ? Dormant or not it is people's money and the owners should be given notice of no less than a year to claim their money and if they fail to do so, their family should then be given a further one year to claim it. This one of saying the money should be transferred to the CBN with immediate effect is nothing but pure theft. 1 Like 1 Share |

kolafolabi: ^^^ It isn't CBN's business. It isn't their money. It isn't CBN's business if people's funds are idle or not. It is none of their business whether people's funds are effectively managed or not. It is none of their business! There are idle federal government assets (in various forms) all over the country. CBN should go sort out that problem and leave depositors money alone. 1 Like |
