Dangote has said the monopoly tag is unfair…. Yen yen yen….😏 This is a 2021 thread on Nairaland which reported the news of Dangote group seeking a sort of importation license monopoly https://www.nairaland.com/6437570/dangote-wants-only-refinery-license How can somebody be denying what his chief strategy officer demanded for 3 years ago ? |

BlueRayDick: Errrmmm, as much as i understand you, he was not speaking for only himself. BUA and any other local refinery would benefit from this too. Unless the Monopolists now have an association |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by monerozi5590: 6:06am |
izzou: We have licence modular refeneries that are producing locally and not only Dangote like you rightly stated. They say they want a deregulated market according to PIA. Deregulated market is the total eliminating or reduction of government involvement in the specified industry. Who is the sole importer of refined petroleum products into the country, the answer is NNPCL. That's the real monopoly. NNPCL can lie but we all know. We all know is a corrupt body. That's an unfair advantage, NNPC has refinery, they should fix it. What he is trying to do in this aspect is to protect local productions. 1 Like |

monerozi5590: That whole sector is a mess, and only God knows the juju cream Kyari is rubbing daily; That guy should just leave, so we can know the level of rot in the system. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by monerozi5590: 6:53am |
izzou: NNPC has been corrupt ever since. The truth is that those oil marketers don't have the financial strength of NNPCL due to forex and all of that that's why they remain the sole importer of refined petroleum products. What Dangote is trying to say is that those marketers should come get petroleum products from local producers instead of NNPCL. 1 Like |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 7:29am |
izzou: Just dey play. How many refineries were near completion as at 2021 when he made that request ? He was requesting a monopoly as at that time. A monopoly which he intends to transcend to oligopoly when other refineries come on board; but before then he would've gained market leadership and have the rest of the market follow. If u can read between the lines, u will see Dangote knows what he's doing. At this point, he's only using the people's dislike for the government to his advantage by whipping up sentiment. |

BlueRayDick: dangote recognizes that nigerians are suckers at theri core and do not understand that business is first and foremost about profit for years people have celebrated mike adenuga for per second billing. they talk as if he did this out of kind heartedness LP a labour party, adopted a capitalist who has never supported unions as their flagbearer dangote is clearly trying to tap into the same court of nigerian public opinion to be fair to him - he is coming from a purely corporate, profit driven mindset - and now he is having to engage NNPC, a government bureaucracy where they run on lethargy, vibes, inshAllah corruption and no consequences NNPC where the former MD was caught with over a million dollars in a personal safe? NNPC that is private company on paper but a nigerian parastatal in reality? NNPC where they have a refinery in kaduna that pays people for doing nothing? NNPC where you have to wait for 3 months or more before you get paid? it is definitely a new experience for him especially as he is what they call a lagos northerner - one who actually hustles but this will alo be like the case of MTN - everyone is watching to see how it turns out |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 9:03am |
Segedinho: let me spell it out to you since you are unfortunately clearly thinking in the exact same manner adenuga did not adopt per second billing out of altruism he was the last entrant to a market and he needed market share and this was the fastest path to it but nigerians who have been conditioned by years of poorly run government parastatals thought a pure business move was done for their benefit rather than the bottom line it is the same way dangote is winding nigerians now Dangote is a stone cold business man and has always been. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Segedinho(m): 9:13am |
GloriousGbola: Boss...the reason behind any move is inconsequential since the most important part of a biz lies within profit making... If per mins billing was killing the masses,an experiment of per hour or per sec is normal since ur consumer's ain't compelled.. IMO..it doesn't matter the experiment a biz carries out as long as it doesn't gives the consumers headache .. Note...am neither here nor there on Dangote's case...make them carry their wahala dey go... |
