Don’t Deny Nigerians Right To Protest – Amnesty International Warns Tinubu by Prestar(m): 8:18pm On Jul 23
The Amnesty International, AI, has issued a warning to the Nigerian government.

It warned President Bola Tinubu’s administration against threatening Nigerians planning to protest against the current hardship and hunger in the country.

AI warned that threatening intended peaceful protesters is unlawful, adding that Nigerians have the constitutional right to protest.

Recall that Nigerians have been charged to file out in August to protest against Tinubu’s government following the bad economic situation in the country.

Following the call, Tinubu’s media aide, Dada Olusegun warned that the intending protesters would meet the strongest resistance of their lives if they opt to protest against the Nigerian government.

Olusegun warned that those who gave Tinubu the mandate to rule the country would strongly resist the protest.

Reacting, AI posted on X: ”Threatening peaceful protesters is unlawful. It is a clear attack on freedom of assembly — which is guaranteed by international law and Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution:

”Nigerians must not be denied the constitutionally and internationally guaranteed right to peaceful protest; through veiled threats of violence and false insinuations.”

We really deserve the kind of leaders we have in Nigeria. No political candidate in the US dares boycott election debate. Dem no born am. It's the election debate that will tell how mentally sound that candidate is,and it's his performance that Wil project him further. Na presidential debate ended Biden second term ambition. Even his allies told him to drop out.

But in Nigeria, a presidential candidate ran away from debate and was seeing online saying na statistics we go chop? Yet millions supported him and he won the election. What a joke. The results are all here for all to see. Gloom and doom

President Ruto has been running helter scelter since last month mounting podium and dishing out media chats on the state of his nation. I saw on CNN today that the youths have taken over Nairobi international airport. President museveni has also been on tv giving speeches trying to bouy the youths ,but our own president is still hibernating in aso rock sending emissary to beg the restless citizens. No even a live broadcast to address the nation. No difference between him and his predecessor. A ni obo n loso,a lo fowo ra obo. Ikan o gbe kan owu jango. There was a country!!

THE PROTEST MUST GO ON. Anyone against it is free to go kiss a live PHCN Wire in any of their Transformers nearest to him or her when there is power. Nonsense.

Things ain‘t moving well in the country so much that about 90% of the citizens are feeling the heat of the bad govt. and we are suposed to remain calm and pretend as if nothing is happening.
Tell that to all the Agbadorians.

Abeg, Amnesty International should focus on the real issues instead of playing politics. Protests must be constructive and not just a platform for noise. Tinubu has a vision, let’s see how it unfolds without distractions.

Well, glad you finally have someone paying you and maybe you finally have a house of your own from all of this. Sadly, millions of Nigerian children who did nothing wrong will be suffering for it, some for the rest of their lives, assuming the hunger and terrible healthcare situation will not destroy them before the end of this year. Their "destiny" and future have been stolen from them so that you and others like you may be presently happy. undecided

Tinubu is a man of the people.

Protests are part of democracy, but let’s not forget that there's a time and place for everything.

The government should engage with citizens constructively instead of letting chaos reign. After all, we all want a better Nigeria.
