The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Communications and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to the threat by Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, to institute a lawsuit against him.

DAILY POST recalls that Onanuga recently alleged that Obi and his supporters were responsible for the planned nationwide protests against the Tinubu-led government over the hardship in the country.

But Obi, in a letter signed by his lawyer, Alex Ejesieme, to Onanuga, urged the presidential spokesman to retract the statement and tender an unreserved apology to him within 72 hours.

Obi also demanded N5 billion in damages from Onanuga over the said allegation.

Reacting, Onanuga, in a fresh post on his official X handle on Tuesday, said: “I am still waiting for the letter from Peter Obi’s lawyer threatening a N5 billion suit and demanding an apology to Peter Obi over the planned ‘revolution’.

“Let me just tell Obi and his lawyer: I am not afraid of any legal action. We shall meet in court.”

I am surprised that Mr Obi is taking on a whole Mr Bayo Onanuga.

Mr Obi should thank the likes of Mr Onanuga for his freedom of speech he enjoys today. Bayo Onanuga is not his mate in national politics and struggle.

Mr Obi should go and read Tempo Magazine and TheNews during the June 12 struggle days against the Nigerian military forces to know the stuff Mr Onanuga is made of.

If he's telling him to go ahead, he means it. Mr Onanuga will present tonnes of evidence that link Mr Obi to those calling for the sabotage of our democracy.

Seriously. Onaniga knows Nigeria don't have judiciary at all. It's been controlled by government. So those obidients should never expect good judgement.

I just hope I didn't shake their table of perceived bad cabal influenced judgement?.

He has evidence against Peter obi and his followers. Do you know that Peter Obi statement after supreme Court judgement is enough evidence against him.

For the fact that those calling for protest can be linked to Peter Obi does not mean he PO is the one asking them to call for the protest, just as achild can be linked to his biological parents does not mean when he does what is wrong then it is the parents that ask him to do so,Let us be logical when we argue our points.

During the bank robbery that took place in kwara state one off the robbers was linked to Bukola Saraki, but does that justify that fact that it was Bukola that sent him to carry out the robbery?

Bayo Onanuga is only boasting because we all know what our judiciary is capable of.

As far as I am concerned investigative journalism in Nigeria died with Dele Giwa, the likes of Onanuga are simply propagandistic masquerading as investigative journalist.

You don't know anything. You think the SW are like the north that you attacked consistently for 8 years without push back. The SW haven't even unleashed on you yet. They are still warming up. For every 1 gbas you give, you will receive 10 gbos in return.

Obidients, you can be opposition without being uncouth and crass. Learn from Atiku.

It is very clear that you have not been around, anyways welcome to Nigeria!

For your information the man you said can not win a local government election defeated Jagaban in the Lagos that he built and in the FCT which is the seat of power in the 2023 presidential elections, even APC agreed to this.
I don't even want to talk of the rest of that election result,Nigerians know the treachery that played out,so stop acting like a clown
