Actually, we don't earn minimum wages in Nigeria. Instead, we earn salaries. In other words, what the president approved was a minimum salary. I think they need to work out minimum wages as well.

In countries that apply minimum wages, earnings are calculated per hour and paid daily, weekly or bi-weekly. Understandably, this minimum salary should apply to every salary earner, but Nigeria has come of age to define a minimum wage for everyone who doesn't earn a salary.

Sharaaap and stop shouting. This is the reason why you need to come out with your families and join the upcoming protest in order to put everything back to orderliness. Many private business are cheating their employees too much and using them as slaves.

In my small firm we have agreed to start paying our five domestic staffs the new minimum wage starting from this month. But we won't just do that without putting up a fight with the government in order to increase our revenue, easy access to credit, return fuel subsidy and create a healthy working environment for we private business owners.

Employers will smile big and the employees too will smile happily. No more working like an elephant and consuming the food meant for an ant. #EndBadGovernment.

If i have a maid I am paying 20k cash, there is no way to prove I am paying her 20k if I don't issue her a pay slip.
So the law is actually difficult to implement for such cases.

Even when minimum wage was 30k many were still earning less than 30k.
