OPINION : Four Reasons You Should Think Before Joining The Nationwide Protest

By Wisdom Nwedene

Ahead of the planned nationwide protest scheduled to kick off on August 1st, 2024, I strongly believe that Nigerian Youth should think twice before joining the protest.

Though, there are genuine reasons for the protest but I have four strong reasons which made me to believe that this protest is not in the best interest of the country at the moment.

Below are my reasons

1. The organisers Of The Protest Are Faceless Individuals : It's crystal clear that those organising this protest are not known till now. I recommend that this type of protest should have leaders that should be calling the shots in case things go wrong. In a protest where everyone is a leader, many things can happen. The organisers should be at the forefront, leading the protesters and controlling the crowd so that things won't go wrong.

2. Thugs Can Hijack The Protest: It's very difficult to organise a peaceful protest in a country battling with bandits, criminals, hoodlums and expect things to go fine.

3. It's Still Early To Judge Tinubu’s Government : I still believe that it's too early to judge Tinubu’s Administration by leading this type of heavy protest against him. Despite that his policies are too harsh, Tinubu still needs time to address issues and bad policies of previous administrations.

4 All of us can still remember what happened during the EndSARS protest. Many lives were lost and property worth billions of Naira destroyed. How sure are we that this Nationwide won't degenerate to what happened during EndSARS protest? I think we should think twice. We can't afford to lose more lives and our national assets destroyed again just like what is happening in Kenya.

You are not properly sure of what you're saying, do you?

So the US and UK are facing 40% food inflation?

Bangladesh was job quota issue not food? Common food to eat! They came out en masse and won! The supreme court said it's no more 30% quota but 5% , screw that! Said the protesters and they said they won't back down.

What are you saying? So people in the UK and US earn the peanut you earn here as salary while spending all of it on common food?

You said it's a global thing? You're seriously misguided bro !!!!!

Oga Wiseman, are you saying that "sit at home" helping ibos to generate revenues in those Ibo states?

Since you're not tribal and sentimental, why can't you condemn the act cause by UGM?

Why are you protesting for hardship when you never protested against terrorism in your region?

You must be really stupid to accept one wrong and condemn another wrong.

No valid points.....

1...once there will be leaders tagged to the protest...they will be invited to Aso rock. Is better it remains faceless, because everyone is in pepper ...

2. The protest will only be hijacked by hungry people, you might be surprised to see Army and Police men join the protest because it touched everyone

3. There is no time to give Tinubu who openly and graciously was part of the protest that removed Jonathan......why didn't he and others give Jonathan time

4. If Tinubu has spoken , shouted, and begged Buhari to give Nigerians good government, by now we would have pitied him, but SANE Nigerians believes he masterminded this Hunger from 2015.....lols

5. The protest should rather change Nigerians to think and reason like human beings rather than like animals in the next election so that we don't end up electing failures in Government....

6. What goes around, comes around.....the protest will be done exactly how APC did their own protest in 2014.....

Exactly, I will do everything to be part of this protest. If possible chase all these bvastards out of the government house and never return. Restructuring must follow and disintegration next.

This month alone, I have spent over #200,000 on feeding and fueling alone. Other bills aren't included oo. Someone tell me how someone will build a house and gather assets without extremely soiling ones hand. Someone please tell me..
