Receiving Jesus is the first step. But after receiving him, you must walk in the light of his word and keep your garments clean.

There are buildings in heaven. It is not built by humans. No one buys a plot of land in heaven. God himself prepares the house for us.

From the evidences of the scripture. Here are a few evidences;

1 Man was created in the image and likeness of God. Since God is a Spirit, it means that the real man is also a spirit being. And since God is eternal, the spirit of man is also eternal.

2. The scripture says the blood of slained Abel cried out to God after he was killed by Cain his brother. It proves that though Abel was physically dead but his blood cried out to God. It means that he was still alive in the realm of the Spirit.

3. The death of Jonah. Jonah died in the belly of a fish. But the scripture said Jonah cried from the belly of hell. It means that his soul was alive and went to hell. He even narrated how he descended to hell.

4. The statement of Jesus concerning the patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are tagged dead but Jesus quoted God as saying;

Mat 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

5. The story of the rich man and Lazarus. They both died. One went to hell and the other to paradise or Abraham’s bosom This is a clear example that the afterlife is real.

6. Jesus died and rose again. If there is no afterlife, there would have been no more Jesus after he died. Jesus rose from the dead and he is alive forevermore.

You are a living soul there is nothing outside you called "soul" therefore at death your soul dies.

What confused misinformed churchgoers is Jesus' comment @ Matthew 10:28 that says:

"And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in Ge·henʹna"

The soul in this context doesn't mean something outside you but your character in person. For instance those who know you call you by name when they see you as in your body but your real identity is not that body rather the character you have always been so if you appear somewhere and refuse to act in line with what they know many will either question your sanity or feel it's a resemblance it will be as if they're seeing someone else in your body.

So what Jesus meant is that both the body they knew and your real person (identify) will perish if God wants to destroy you that is what nobody not even Satan can do all what they can do is harm and destroy your body which they can see wherever God has the power to give you another perfect human body that will shock those that think they have finished you!

Jesus never mentioned the word "Hellfire" it's translators who did so therefore find the word they translated Hellfire for you then ascertain the meaning first before thinking of how to argue blindly!

We are all God's spirit dwelling within a physical body made from dust of the earth. We are all God's spirit experiencing life in multiple ways.

So the spirit returns to God who owns it, if it has not completed it's mission on earth, God can still send it again....in another body to do so...no matter how long it takes. Our duty is to fulfil the laws....

God can not send his spirit to hell, it does not make any sense...

Update and upgrade your knowledge of spiritual things. The men of old didn't have full knowledge of God and so certain things they said weren't true. But Jesus who is the truth has come to unveil the reality of spiritual things to us. So, if you want to understand spiritual things, look more into the New Testament.
