GeneralOjukwu: Questions. Do you support complete resource control for the Niger Delta or crude oil & natural gas producing areas in general? Do you support the expulsion of non-Yorubas from Lagos and allowing those expelled to go home and form their own countries in their regions with their own tribes and secede from Nigeria? Do you support stronger laws AGAINST immigration in the US & UK? Please I'm NOT canvassing or supporting any view. Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks. Good Luck to Nigeria. |
Re: Lagos Govt Revokes All Existing Building Permits by GeneralOjukwu: 11:52am On Jul 28 |
IbeOkehie: Yes to all 3 questions. 1. Niger Delta should take the lion share of all the resources in their region. I would advocate 70% at least. My heart says 90% but that's not going to happen. 50-60% is far fetched but more realistic. 2. Why would some idiots leave their shiithole regions after they have messed it up, and come to insult the residents & indigenes of Lagos who worked hard to make the place a better place ? Go back to your region and enjoy the good governance there. As much as Tinubu is accused of being a dictator, check Governors of Class of 1999, how many are relevant today ? How many still have any legacies ? And NO. I don't support secession. Igbos felt they were smart and refused secession clause. Zik opposed when Awolowo & Sardauna wanted it. Isaacs Boro was mercilessly beaten and arrested by Ojukwu when he wanted to declare Niger Delta Republic. Since Igbos wanted One Nigeria so much, they can't want to run when they have been put in their place. 3. US & UK should flush immigrants out. Blacks especially Africans messed up their continent and refused to fix it. They feel the solution to that isn't to roll their sleeves and work. They just want it " ready made". If we are all forced to stay back, then slowly, people might stop defecating in their own water sources or vandalising transformers or parts of a newly constructed bridge. If Japan & Germany can rise from the ashes of World War II after being annihilated... do they have 2 heads & 2 brains ? Done several courses abroad ; undergrad & postgrad - US, UK & France. Proudly staying in Nigeria. By the way. 1 Like |

Lagos state and Nigeria as a whole are not ready to stop this incessant building collapse. Approval alone does not validate quality, after all the approving team are not part of supervision team and by virtue of their role, they might not be present on site all the time. Experience has shown that many people have "big plan with small budget". If you ask me, I will say one of the best way to prevent the menace of building collapse is by asking the prospective house owner to come along with their budgets (BoQ) duly prepared by a Certified Quantity Surveyor or any other recognised cost consultant. |

Mear23: No need for that, we can look at countries like the USA or UK where building codes are easily accessible. An inspector is required to certify that the building satisfies all the codes all the way down to the smallest ones. These inspectors are bonded by insurance and with each signature they are putting not only their livelihood at risk but their freedom as well. Some inspectors have been jailed for bribery schemes and outright negligence, now the entire process is much more credible and collapsing building is a very rare occurrence. 2 Likes |

abbey621: You are right, however, this is obtainable in an ideal society where people are held accountable for their actions. In Nigeria where common interest is usually set aside for personal gain such may be too difficult to implement. |

Mear23: Both solutions will be difficult to implement without a serious government, Nigeria is blessed with laws, proper enforcement has always been our albatross! |

You don't know who it includes. If Sanwo-Olu really wants to go rogue, Yoruba will be exempted from this, but the governor hasn't had enough. Let just wait and see where this ends. You will go to court and he will not follow the order if it's ruled in your favor. He will put on the real war footing, we are getting there. All he needs to say is that his people are endangered by aliens. Eagleways: |

Re: Lagos Govt Revokes All Existing Building Permits by ycat: 1:10am On Aug 01 |
Aliens = Ajoji in Yoruba language. We are tribal people, no one should lose their identity because of a British creation called Nigeria which is the number 1 reason why things are the way they are. We are not the same people, our values are not the same, we don't belong in the same country. Eagleways: |
