Hi guys. I made a setup of 1 220ah battery and 4 180w panels to atleast power my bulbs, fan and charge the phone a few times 24/7.

Since it is rainy season, there are some days that the battery doesn't get fully charged and I thought is to be expected. But when there is sun the battery us full within a few hours of sunlight.
Today has been been cloudy for most of the day. I took a nap this evening and woke up sweating, just for me to go and find out my battery has drained.

My question is, is it normal for this type of situation to happen during days with low sunlight? Asking because I specifically installed 4 panels thinking they could be enough to get some juice for me during days like this.

Let me know what you think. Tips and advices are welcome too grin grin

Edit: I mistakenly said 4 batteries instead of panels. The 1 Battery is 220ah from glow energy and panels are sharp 180w 48 cells

You would have to give more clarification than this. U didnt mention what type and specs of charge controller? How did u connect the panels? Wiring size? Inverter u are also using?

Chai. My battery has never drained since I installed mine. It's been two months now and running. Even under the rain, my panels sometimes charge. No matter how bad the rainfall is in the past two months I always get a full battery.

I will suggest you add more panels and upgrade your batteries. I think it's better to buy the panels and battery yourself from a reputable company. And your charge controller too may be an issue.

Bro, I bought my battery from who I was told was reputable. I bought only one and plan to add more soon if everything works well with this one. But I will let the OGs here help me decipher what the real issue before I decide to replace anything

But still, could you tell me which companies are reputable companies? And how to buy from them direct. And which brand of battery, panels, and controller you are using in your setup btw.

Edit: I have tried getting my stuff from fouani but the smallest battery they had was 900k+ then followed by 2m+ so I was priced out

Okay I see. My battery and inverter are SAKO. A LiPo4 200ah 5160wh battery and a 24V 3.5kva Hybrid Inverter. I contacted the company directly and they were able to send it from Lagos to my location. I got my panels from Fouani. 4 555w Jinko Solar Panels.

I think Fouani and Gennextechnologies dot com are legit online sources for solar systems. I think from my little understanding so far Felicity, Sako, SRNE, Wellion are some of the legit companies but where you buy them is more important.

this your setup is max. How much would this roughly cost?

And how much load do you carry on this? Do you use NEPA or you are completely off grid?

As he said, the problem is your choice of hardware. Tubular battery and the pwm CC you are using.

I think it cost me about 2.5M. 2.3 exact price but the stress, cost of logistics, etc., and it should be around 2.5.

My load isn't much though. A TV, fridge, standing fan, rechargeable fan, 8 bulbs, a sound bar, decorder, and occasionally pressing iron and blender. The setup is more than enough for me.

Considering the setup, NEPA is useless to me. It's pointless. What's the point of using NEPA if my battery never runs out? I tried it once in the first week and they almost destroyed my inverter with their unstable power. So yeah, I think I'm completely off grid.

No.... You just need an efficient system to charge your battery. Increase your panels or change your charge controller to mppt , better still you can do both.
