"Say No To Protest" March Ongoing In Lagos by Goodvibes007: 1:43pm On Jul 29
Youths in Lagos state on Monday, July 29, held a counter rally to say “no” to the planned August 1st nationwide protest.

Recall The Nation reported that some Nigerians were planning to protest against economic hardship in the country.

The demonstration, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across all states of the federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, starting from August 1.

The youths who came from different locations converged on the Lagos Island area of the state to express their support for the Tinubu-led administration, while calling on other youths to “shun violent protest.”

Alluding to the 2020 #EndSARS protest that led to the destruction of property and loss of lives in the state, the youths frowned on its recurrence and would stop it from happening again.

Good

I support freedom of speech, lawful assembly and protest just as provided for, enshrined and protected in the African Charter as well as the Nigerian constitution.

In the same vein, since what is good for the goose is good for the gander, those who have protests on the 1st of August must be greeted with same courtesy.

Good or bad, the people echoed their voices to the government. And the message has been passed to the glass house

As expected. Lagosians don't want more hardship. Can petty traders stand am not busying and selling for 2 weeks and a potential month long protest, I don't think so. Except trading stalls are allowed to open which I highly doubt. No one would like to be caught up in the commotion.

I don't even like the way they are trying so hard to stop the protest, it's giving fear of incompetence. Protest is normal but it should be violence free.

Why are we even protesting against protests?

The irony is too much.

Lagosians need to focus on more pressing issues instead of this circus. Protests don’t solve problems; they just create more chaos.

If you want to make noise, channel it into something productive. Let’s not turn our city into a battleground for misplaced priorities.

Big Protest have never been violence free in Nigeria. Some protesters are already blocking roads in Abuja. The soldiers would clear the roads to allow free movevent of whoever do not want to join in the protest. Hopefully, the protesters won't attack the soldiers with stones.

Protesters just looking for trouble again, trying to disrupt the peace in Lagos. They think they can just block roads and harass innocent citizens. Enough of this nonsense! Go home and stop disturbing the rest of us who are trying to live our lives.

These alayes social miscreants early protest are all confirmation of the government morbid fear of the unknown that is looming in the background. The most worrisome thing is that the government will never see the real protest when it will surface. However, it must be careful not to light off the fuse first.

Jonathan's government did this. It is normal but an outdated method by different Nigerian governments. I thought they would have a better idea. Times have changed.

This highlights the enormity of joblessness in Nigeria.

These are obviously jobless miscreants.

No reasonably employed person would do this nonsense at Midday on a Monday

Nigeria is overripe for a MILITARY COUP!
This "democracy" of a facade or facade of a democracy is causing Nigeria untold damage.
This current democracy is chokingly clogged up with Corruption in diverse ramifications, ethnic bigotry, Incompetence, Cluelessness and Nepotism.
These factors are exactly the triggers for the 1966 MILITARY INTERVENTION in Nigeria.
Nigeria needs to go back to military era,if things were going to be better.
During the military regime, all petrol refineries were working perfectly. There was nothing like fuel subsidy payment.
Even some foreign nations were bringing their raw crude oil to refine here.
Nigeria was abundantly super rich there.
Living standards were much better then.
Under the military regime, The Price Control Mechanism was extremely effective.
Then you dare not arbitrarily inflate prices of goods and services.
If you do, you will answer heavily to the military government.
Then,LG elections were a must .
It was the military who initiated the 1976 LOCAL GOVERNMENT REFORMS.
Now democracy has shattered the precious reforms.
Under the military regime, civil service was very great.
Nigeria achieved so much international prestige and respect under the military regime.
Under the military regime of Major General Murtala Mohammed, Nigeria spearheaded the liberation of Angola and Namibia from colonial rule.
Democracy has failed in Nigeria.
What we have is Kleptocracy at its best.

This protest is dead on arrival

Those who no wan hear word go sleep jail for August 1.
If you love your peace and freedom, you will not come out to make trouble. Some people will be forgotten inside cell, that’s if you don’t even collect injury or lose your life over nothing.
This is not the right time to protest, it’s too hot and every sign has shown that while some people want to hijack it, others are ready to disrupt it. So there will definitely be a clash.
Don’t create an avenue for looters to destroy peoples investment and government infrastructures.

If you think the protest will start and end peacefully, then you haven’t been paying attention
